He also recently put out a document (ecclesia de Eucharist?) in which he says that the 'COMMUNION ASPECT" of our church is getting to be something other than what it is supposed to be, like people interpreting it WRONGLY??!!

All will be known, our erronious thinking, if we make it to purgatory.
Our communo is from our baptism, lived out in fidelity to the magisterium. Our baptism in Christ is more powerful than our earthly familial ties, has nothing to do with "your o.k. I’m o.k.

We are not o.k.
Nor is it ok to dismiss entirely the importance of community, even though some people misconstrue it to mean something other than what it means. I know people think it’s a buzzword, but in a very real sense, giving real importance to being part of a community of believers who agree on certain things, and have certain fixed rules that everyone must abide by, and that no individual has the authority to change is something that distinguishes us from many Protestants, where you constantly see communities splitting and breaking off into separate congregations over this or that disagreement with the pastor du jour.

My parish “nailed” 22 out of 23.

No Eucharist Adoration 😦 seems we can’t get enough people in the parish to spend an hour with our Lord. How sad. 😦

But, you don’t need to go to Perpetual Adoration right from the start! Start out with Eucharistic Adoration for two hours in the afternoon, onc per week. After some time, you may be able to expand it to another day or two per week. The parish where I live did this, then, after some years (yes, it did take years!) they progressed to twelve hours per day, dive days per week.

Even a small start is great - try it. You need the 336 people for Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration (two per hour for the 168 hours per week), you only need four people to get started!

I like this!! These CATHOLIC parishes here in the USA are run mostly by the Institute of the Incarnate Word Fathers, founded in 1984 and which have many parihes all over the different dioceses of the USA now. These guys are 100% FAITHFUL. Here is there link: www.iveamerica.org Maybe they have a parish near you?? Look under: “Our Parishes” on their web-site.🙂

  1. The church’s Website doesn’t link to dissident groups like Call
to Action, Voice of the Faithful, or Catholics for a Free Choice.
NO WAY!
But you DO have a big group of Catholics in the Public Sqare, and the founders of Holy Trinity Apostolate!

👍 👍
And, I’m sorry you guys are down to 3 priests now, aren’t you? God bless!

Who left?? I hope not Father Rykowski (sp?) ???

I work in troy and decided to start trying to make daily Mass. The best option for me was a noon mass and St C-M was the closest and best option for me. I went to Fahter Rykowski for confession my first time there and I can honestly say he is the best confessor I have ever been allowed to meet with. I have not been in two weeks and planned on getting there today at least for confession…

Anyone else have this great priest as a confessor? And anyone know any history on him?

All of you at this parish are very lucky to have those great priests.

Actually, I can claim a consistency of more than six decades on this issue.
You have disliked white men for 60 years? Please consider a change.

Of being a fascist?? Are you bragging about this?? It’s interesting that you see people for their skin color, bank accounts, and biological appendages. Is this where “progressiveness” has led us?

I think it might be considered a “reverse racism”, don’t you?

Ahh, and the conservative heritage? What, they’ve evolved from active promotion of racism to denial racism exists?

It does exist, and apparently, you are a prime example it is not out of fashion.

There’s no denial that racism existed or exists now. You’ve just proved it with your own comment about the rich white boys…

I’m pretty sure that Katherine was referring to a particular group of white people at a particular parish with a particular priest. In that case, it would be a reference to a socio-economic class segment of the parish. That is hardly racist, unless it is also racist to speak critically of the white people who comprise the KKK.

In my estimation, pretty much all 23 of those characteristics are found in my parish. Not bad for a conservative, traditional, charismatic parish with a Lifeteen program. . .

This is a great list - and utterly reasonable. There’s no need for “tasters” as one poster described - the universality of the Church is reflected in the norms within which we live - norms that allow for personalization and improvisation. The generalizations about confession and the like “before the council” are ridiculous. You’re including many great saints in those generalizations!

The idea that the pre-counciliar church and the post-counciliar church are so different is simply wrong. The continuity of tradition is perfectly compatible with the usage we observe.

Since things seemed to have strayed from topic, I here again repeat.
