Small details that make the difference and unite the Church

Do not be late. Remember that God is waiting for you to fill you with your love, give your forgiveness and a hug, speak to your ear, and say what you need to hear. He separated a place on the table for you. Do not keep him waiting;
Do not wear provocative clothing. Do not wear attentionable or provocative clothing (neckline, miniskirt, and shorts);
Do not enter the church without greeting the Lord. When you arrive, make the sign of the cross. He is there, happy to see you. Thank him for he invited him;
Do not be lazy to bow or genuflect. If you walk past the altar, which represents Christ, do reverence. If you pass through the Tabernacle, where Christ is, kneel (touch the ground with the knee);
Do not chew gum or eat or drink. Only water is allowed and if necessary and for health reasons;

ha-ha, not currently. They have disappointed us in the last worldcup and could not even make it to this year’s world. And where are you from?

Most people here are US with some Europeans & Australians.
 
Our parish priest is from Ghana. A very good and holy man!

We tend to forget that the Lord is present in the Tabernacle. I try very hard to keep silence in His presence. Genuflecting and bowing to the altar is a pious act. Being at mass from “blessing to blessing” shows love and respect.

It all follows from our firm belief that he is present with us, is God incarnate, and will judge us when we leave this earth.

The rule is love! We are in the presence of the One Who loves us so profoundly that He chose to suffer and die even though we were still sinners.

That is amazing.

Parents of small children are often guilty of the above where they would bring food to the mass. At some point in time, they would allow children to suck milk lying on the pew or eating.

Children, unless infants, should be trained to observe mass and not to do things that are disallowed during the mass.
 
I’ve seen parents who sit in the back of the Church and even let their children run around … it’s disappointing.
 
Is the statement that there should be “three readers on a Sunday” (exclusive of the priest/deacon) a real requirement, or just someone’s ideal ?

We’ve had that discussion on another thread. When I was 3 and 4 my mother used to bring one pack of soda crackers (2 crackers) for me to eat at communion time. It prevented any sort of questions on my part as to why I didn’t get to go up for the host like everybody else, as well as keeping me quiet in the pew. By the time I reached school age, it was no longer necessary.

If one needs to bring a small, non-messy snack for one’s preschool child or one’s elderly parent with metabolism issues or even for oneself who may have diabetes or other blood sugar concerns, then I do not have a problem with this. I have not seen anyone kicking back in the pew munching like they’re at the movies and it’s understood that snacks and water are to keep very young children quiet and when necessary to keep adults from becoming ill. Common sense.

I take it this list is directed primarily at people who have never been to Mass before? There are only about 5 things on the list (coming late, leaving early, bringing snacks for little kids and elderly/ sick people, leaving your place at the sign of Peace, and in the case of teens and early 20s maybe a bit of provocative clothing) that I have ever seen anyone do. (And all of them have been discussed to death on other CAF threads.) The other 20 things, I’ve never seen anyone do.
 
The website where this originated feels a little “spammy” or click baity.
