Nor, from the article itself, is it marketed as a birth control pill.
 
It is a birth control slash acne drug. A pretty clever marketing strategy, especially for young women who simultaneously want the benefit of acne treatment and also contraception. This drug was already banned in France. In the USA and Canada, Yaz, Yasmin and Ocella are drugs that contain the same active ingredient drospirenone, and these drugs also have been responsible for many deaths.
 
The marketing strategy… several years ago my then 15yo daughter was told right in front of me that a low-dose form of the Pill could help her acne, and that she could go in without le to the clinic. Guess they’ve flipped it over now ): Parents should definitely be aware of this…
