Didn’t know where to post. Pretty interesting.

Not at all, Allforhim. It is a fair comment.Hi,
Are we trying to keep tabs on which church(protestant or catholic) has the most scandals. At least these men own up to their immorality and step down.
Sorry to sound mean but we dont need to talk about this stuff. We should pray for him instead. I dont talk about the priest scandals because I feel bad for them as individuals who have sinned.
I hope you will forgive me for being so blunt.![]()
Exactly, I’m just trying to point out that though the media singles out Catholic priests, this happens everywhere. Just a sign of the deviant times… I’m not saying “Hah, evangelicals are bad!”Given how they have attacked us it should not surprise them that they get similiar treatment. Eventually it should hit them that it has nothing to do with celibacy etc.
I agree with you.Hi,

and again…that’s the point I was trying to make…I didn’t put it here to shock. I certainly hope you don’t mean to imply I was suggesting that all protestant ministers are gay…I posted this to show that abuse and homosexuality are not limited to Catholic priests. It is a commentary on the state of our society that this is so widespread. Protestants AND Catholics need to be reminded of that sometimes. Our poor priests have all been stereotyped by large segments of the population as a gang of deviants.I agree with you.
While these scandals are shocking for whatever church these men belong to, they merely remind us of human nature and our ability to sin.
These are individuals who have sinned, but they in no way reflect the teachings of their respective churches. A protestant minister who is charged with these crimes no more represents his denomination’s beliefs then a priest charged with these crimes represents the Church.
Hi,.
What I continue to ponder when ever I read about these men (married or unmarried) who have dedicated their lives to the preaching of God’s word **is why God’s grace has not helped them to overcome this sin. **It would seem that if God called them to teach others that He would also provide them the necessary grace to overcome this temptation.
Just thinking out loud.

I share your sentiments, Catherine. This is a totaly mystery. I’m sad to hear about this story and I, too, don’t understand how men who’ve dedicated their lives to serve God can not receive more graces from our Lord..

Amen. I’m sure the Gates of Hell try extra hard to prevail against God’s emissaries.Of this I am certain we all agree: the only one who will take any delight in another Christian Pastor having to step down because of immorality is Satan.![]()
That sounds fair enough. All, I have been personally attacked and insulted by fundamentalists and evangelicals over the scandals. When it happens again, and it will, I will simply remind them of these recent scandals.

I have a related thought on this…is it automatically hypocrisy to preach against a sin…even though you are caught up in it?It’s not the sexual act that bothers me as much as the hypocrisy. ANother vocal opponent of homosexual relations is apparently engaging in homosexual relations.
