And you don’t think sin is trouble?

Whatever, even in it’s secular form, “trouble” still leaves much to be desired:

TROUBLE:
  • to disturb the mental calm of; worry; distress; agitate.
  • to put to exertion, pains
  • to cause bodily pain, discomfort, or disorder, to afflict:
  • to vex, or bother:
  • to disturb, agitate, or stir up
Yeah. I can’t wait to get some of that that … :whacky:
OK, so you are not a masochist…
UNACCEPTABLE!

40 LASHES MANDATORY!
…hopefully this is your sense of humor shining through. Yikes!
Well …

What I think I would like to do is to avoid trouble as much as possible, while learning to appreciate my ability in having done so.

Yup. That’s what I think.👍
OK, sounds very reasonable.

As for finding a serious Catholic who also has a sense of humor and who lives in the Capital Region of New York state, I would think that should be totally doable. My grandparents live in Niskayuna so a whole side of my family is from around there. They are all totally orthodox and totally fun. The whole family. I’m sure they are not some aberration. There’s got to be more like them there.

There must be some nice, devout Jewish women out there, ready and willing to convert to Catholicism, if you only ask them.

Well, after all … I am looking to possibly get married.

“Sense of humor”. Was I joking?

I NEVER kid around … not ever.

Ummm, I’ve been in this area my whole life.

So if your family is as you say they are …

Then yes, they ARE an aberration (albeit, a good one).👍

Sedes, please see my previous post regarding “the definition of trouble”.

LOL

Questions I’d always have to be answering a devout Jewish woman:

"Why do you worship on Sunday?
"Why do you revere just plain bread?
"Why do you confess to a priest?

"Why do you … Why do you … Why do you …"

AWGGGH !!

Not anymore. I realised a long time ago what women look for when they go boyfriendshopping. I also realised that I don’t have those qualities in sufficient quantity. Consequently, I am nice and real smart and have a wonderful personality and o yes I have a lot of potential. So I took myself off the market over 15 years ago.

Hmmmm…well, they are originally from Brooklyn, so maybe that explains it.

And what qualities would those be, pray tell?

Well, I don’t know, some people don’t believe in love through the internet (and I respect that, I guess it’s not for everybody)… But honestly, I was having problems finding a good Catholic man, so I gave it a shot and signed up in AveMariaSingles.com after hearing very good things about it, now I’m engaged to a wonderful devote Catholic:D

Because I don’t go around looking while I’m at Mass, I concentrate :), and on prayer groups, well, the good men are all taken or married, and the ones left… Well some really don’t have a strong Faith and they come and go from the Church like it was a supermarket, and there are some that stay but don’t change their ways, so… The other option was regular guys that don’t even visit Church EVER and they don’t respect your desition in going to one and believing in God… So, I just tried in AMS and so far it went good for me 🙂

I’m not saying it could be easy for everybody, but in my case, I had to be patient and wait for the right one, because I was a member since 2005… So believe me, even there you have to be careful, pray to the Lord, and wait 🙂

If you pray and believe and have patience, God will bless you, no matter where you are I think, and even a greater blessing for wanting someone who will have devotion for our Lord:D

Honestly, I’d rather be living thousands of miles from my hometown with my fiance than living here without him. It may seem a stretch, but when you find the person God intends for you, it’ll all become clear. 😃
Amen!!!

My Fiance lives far from me too, but when God lets you meet that person, you just know! Period.

I’m so glad for you! I met my fiance in AveMaria too 😃

Blessings for you! hugs

I met a great Catholic man, perhaps not as ‘on fire’ as I would have liked, but things do change. Regardless, I am happy with him the way he is.

I was on Catholicmatch.com . He found me on match.com by looking for a Catholic woman in his area. I am stlll surprised that we found each other on such a secular site!

Dude! Hook us up!

I have started getting the impression that I’m just living in the wrong area. My area is the type of place people leave as soon as they’re done with high school and then return to 10-15 years later because it’s safe a mellow. There don’t seem to be many young Catholic women around.
I dont know what parish you are from but our mission hooked up with the young adults group from San Antonio de Padua last summer and there were some really incredible young men and women with that group. I think they are in Orange Co. Anaheim Hills or something. If you are near there you should look them up.

Good luck and let me know what happens.

Ah, the eternal friend problem. Yep, there are such personalities that women want them to be friends but not boyfriends. Sometimes we don’t have what turns them on, even if we have what melts them. Sometimes they think we’re so great they want us to be around forever and what’s the best way to do that? Make us friends, of course. Yuppee. Now, I don’t mind sincere friendship. In fact, it’s great to have a lot of friends and of both sexes preferably. But come on. I’ve begun wondering if God doesn’t me to stay away from marriages in any way shape of form, whether by contracting or by blessing, as I don’t feel any priestly vocation, either. 😃

Seriously, though, say hi. I live in a Catholic country, you know. 90% folks are officially baptised in the Catholic church plus some Protestants and Orthodox. However, 30% of the populace frequents Catholic masses. Maybe 40%. Out of those, guess how many “agree with the church”. Then consider those who are off limits as married canonically and divorced civilly. Then consider I’m not immediately physically attracted to any woman who’s Catholic and not running away from me. And if you really want to know, I’m actually handsome and considered a good catch, as I’m believed sensible, intelligent and en route to big cash as a law student (I’m probably going to disappoint them since I have a bit too much of a spine for a lawyer, though). Sigh Of course, I could cast my net in a religious group, but I’m no tertiary order person. I’m laaaaaay. Secular. Secular Catholic. I have hobbies that aren’t religion. I don’t spend all my time on prayer or church activities. And it looks like you either go there or end up single. Unless you want to compromise. Compromise? Pfeh. There’s no god but God and Ratzinger is His prophet! Oh, did I mention it’s exactly the “friend” qualities? Forgot to mention how women tend to regard men who play computer games, staff internet portals, own domains etc (I do all).

So, knowing me, I’m going to get screwed over once or twice more thanks to big romantic love, then I’m likely going to end up perpetually single or married to someone wanting to settle down with wild memories (seriously, no chance… if there’s any wild past, it has to be regretted, confessed and whatnot or I’m out of there), or perhaps God will take me up with my Latin and good looks in black colours. 😛 Oh well, not really. I trust He has some plans for me, but it’s quite difficult at the moment. I do feel driven, just don’t know where. Sigh End of Rant. We apologise for permanent psychological damage. 😃

Dear Frank.
Firts - I will pray for You. I think it is not good idea to date/marry some non-catholic woman and eventually convert her to Catholicism. I was in that kind of relationship and i had that intention. There was all right at the begining. I was sure, that she is the gift from Jesus for me. I loved her like no one in my all life before. I was ready to give her all my life. And i want to believe, that in that momen she did fill the same to me. She wanted to talk with me about my religion, was with me in my church. But in her heart there was no agreement to accept all rules of Catholicism. One day she wanted have sex with me. I refused. She realised that i didn’t love her enough. I don’t judge her, she just understud the love like that. And was deep hurted by other men before. But it was the beginning of the end.
After two years we finaly both understud, that we are just two adult persons, who chosen two totaly different ways of life. And it was over. Frank, do not my mistake, please, your life is too short to waste it and to long to hurt your self.
My(Catholic) Dh married me, a Pentecostal girl, and I converted 3 years later at Easter Vigil. His quiet sincere faith won me over. It can and does happen.

For people in their chldbearing years, finding a partner with matching beliefs is a major issue. Very important.

But I would make a distinction, for those who are older. Securing a rewarding, romantic relationship can be a challenging task, when you are young. In your 40s or 50s, it is a lot harder.

While shared religious values and beliefs are of great import, there are decent people from other religious traditions, as well.

I would suggest that older Catholics cut ourselves a little slack, and consider partners who are not Catholic, if the alternative is to be alone.

My views may be controversial, but I can stand the heat.

Don’t seem to be many around. Very few actually, where I live.

Catholic Single’s web sites (I’ve tried them all) seem to be fulled with people who aren’t really that concerned about finding a potential soul mate.

Just another place to go for another forum.

And in a Christian Single’s Group that I’ve attended over the years, I’ve met denominational and non-denominational Christian women who are truly on fire with God and the Bible.

I’ve found their company quite refreshing.

Closest thing to a “real” Catholic that I’ve found thus far.

Ironic, isn’t it …

But of course, there’s still the issues of them not understanding the Eucharist, Confession, etc.

What’s a serious Catholic man to do?
Not exactly sure what you mean by Orthodox but I feel your pain buddy many of us are in the same boat only I’m looking for a Catholic guy not a lady. 😃 😉 👍
