Though I will agree that I severly lack a sense of humor ( just ask my Curmudgeon and Junkie friends). šŸ‘
Ain’t that the truth!!! šŸ˜› I can vouch for the lack of humor… šŸ˜‰ šŸ˜› šŸ˜›

That was me kidding for those truly missing the sense of humor.

Seek out a Tridentine Mass. Seek out a head covering woman. While I can’t promise that each and every woman there would measure up to your ideal, may I humbly suggest that this is your best bet for finding a serious orthodox Catholic woman.
I am a good catholic young women who does cover her head!!

Incase someone is interested? lol
šŸ˜‰
Wait on God and you won’t be disappointed!

God Bless

Here I am, never-married and reasonably devout!

(But I’m kind of old, and not thin, and not very pretty. Oops. :o )

This, by the way, is excellent advice:
I would say to keep an open mind about the package your future spouse might appear in.

Frank, I think you are being too picky! šŸ˜‰

Listen, the girl in the towel may have needed some gentle guidance! In this counter-culture, it is hard to understand the virtue of modesty, but even the most immodest gals may be enlightened, ashamed of how immodest they were before! 😦

I am glad my husband took a chance on me! If he had your attitude, we would not have made it past the first date! He is now blessed with a very devout Catholic wife and mother(head covering and all, LOL!), if I venture to say so myself, LOL! I am ashamed I was ever an immodest part-time Catholic. 😦 The Holy Spirit really can work wonders, however! My husband truly saved me. He is why I am living my faith as God intended. Without him, I would be one of those girls you talk of. 😦 It only took getting married for a conversion of heart on my part! I felt so blessed to be marrying Catholic, I vowed to show God my gratitude by truly following his will, as an individual and wife, and that spawned a huge religious education undertaking. I began a educating myself, exploring teachings, accepting them, living them, increasing my daily sacrifices, devotions, etc.

Very few of us are born saints, but we are all called to become saints. Please remember those saints that were once sinners!!! Some of our best saints were also the biggest sinners!

Ummm.

Your only 17 years old.

You shouldn’t be dating ANYBODY at this point and time in you life.

Yikes …

Frank, I think you are being too picky! šŸ˜‰
Oh really? Hahaha.

Well, ā€œthat girl in the towelā€ was somebody that I wasn’t even dating.

Just an aquaintance. See what I mean?

And contrary to what some people might believe, I am not a self-righteous ā€œEverybody is going to Hell except meā€ type of Catholic.

Far from it.

I guess what I’m trying to do is I just want to find a gal that will likely cause me the least possible amount of trouble down the road.

LOL

Are you sure about that? You don’t want at least a little bit of trouble?

Please don’t say there are no good faithful single Catholic women…I happen to be one! And if I appeared before a man wearing only a towel, I’d be FAR more embarassed than he!

I’m having the same trouble…finding a good faithful man. I’ve been on Ave Maria, and actually, two of the men I’ve met…well, one is actually going to become a priest and has become a very good friend (there was no dating, only a friendship that developed naturally), and one of the other people I wrote to for a long time thinks he is called to the permanent deaconate. So apparently I attract future priests and deacons! LOL

Yet so far, I have not attracted a true potential husband.

There are some great people on Ave Maria (the men I referred to I ā€œmetā€ there). One is local soI do know him, the other lives far away, no poential there.

I’ve also met the typical scammer there. After a long absence on the site as I was busy, one guy actually wrote to me, called me a fraud and made all other sorts of accusations, telilng me that Tom Cruise isn’t available, etc etc. I calmed down, wrote back, apologized for not getting back to his previous e-mail due to unforseen life circumstances, thanked him for showing me who he really is and told him never to contact me again.

So men or women, good site or not, screen your ā€œcandidatesā€ well because even Ave Maria Singles has its share of questionable characters. It has been better than other sites, though.

So, Fireman Frank (I used to be Firefighter Phoenix, btw), don’t give up hope. There ARE good women out there who are also pining away for the man with whom to be joined in the sacrament of Holy Matrimony.

I get discouraged, too…so I stopped looking, and went on living my life. I have decided to make peace with the single state because marriage isn’t the answer to everything, and in fact, even within marriage, the spiritual life requires a certain detachment.

I recommend, for everyone, both married and single, ā€œGod Alone Sufficesā€ by Slawomir Biela. It discusses the spiritual factors invovled in marriage and family, and quite honestly, it’s made me recognize the blessing of single life, and hopefully, if I am called to marriage, a certain understanding of married spirituality.

Fireman Frank, put all of your reliance on God…and then give HIM the permission to choose the time, the place, the person.

Conversation before the Fall:

Eve: ā€œTake a bite of the apple Adam!ā€

Adam: ā€œI don’t think we should.ā€

Eve: ā€œWhy not?ā€

Adam: ā€œWe were told not to.ā€

Eve: ā€œWell, ***don’t you want at least a little bit of trouble ***?ā€

So to answer your question dulcissima …

NO!

God Bless You Phoenix!
I’m having the same trouble…finding a good faithful man.
Well, my ā€œtrouble’sā€ are different.

'Cause if I was trying to find a ā€œgood faithful manā€, I’d be having a host of other problems to deal with!
… and one of the other people I wrote to for a long time thinks he is called to the permanent deaconate.
A man is permitted to marry before he is ordained to the permanent diaconate.

Maybe he was also planning on eventually becoming a priest?

Darn tootin Tom Cruise isn’t available.

He’s a Scientologist!
So, Fireman Frank (I used to be Firefighter Phoenix, btw), don’t give up hope.
Just curious. Why were you named ā€œFirefighter Phoenixā€?
even within marriage, the spiritual life requires a certain detachment.
Very true.

Good advice.

So, do you have any plans on being in the Capital Region of N.Y State any time soon?

LOL

God wouldn’t have forgiven me if I didn’t at least ask …

I’m not talking about sin, just about trouble. No matter how saintly a woman you marry, if she is a woman, she’s bound to bring at least a bit of trouble to your life. I mean, she’ll probably put the toilet paper roll on the wrong way and forget to leave the toilet seat up and all. You’ve been single for a long time now. Do you think you would rather avoid trouble or maybe learn to appreciate a little trouble every once in a while?

Not that those of you treading this minefield need any more to worry about, but based on my own experience it bears pointing out that you need to carefully evaluate your potential mate even if you find a rosary praying, daily mass attending, pro-life group founding, regularily confessing Catholic (which are indeed a rare find). That is where the real evaluation of your potential mate begins (even if she’s also inclined to wearing headcoverings too). You can find all that and a surface level compability only to discover the other’s reason for those practices was more to hide their emotional problems from the world and thier potential mate rather than the outlook that develops by directly addressing one’s failings and facing them for what they are by prayer and self-denial. BTDT, you don’t want the t-shirt.

God Bless You Phoenix!

Well, God bless you for not looking for a man! šŸ˜›

The deacon thing…well, he has discerned that he is NOT called to the priesthood, but he and his SD believe he is called to the deaconate. However, I think both he and I believe that neither of us is called to marriage to each other before he enters the permanent deaconate! He’s a good guy, though, and I know that he will make a wonderful husband. Just not mine. Such is discernment.

Tom Cruise…yeah. I remember how I used to be ā€œin loveā€ with him (think ā€œTop Gunā€) Then he became a Scientologist, made-up-cult guru, and I lost complete and total respect for him. What betrayal. What an idiot.

ā€œFirefigher Phoenixā€ā€¦well, I would have said, "Firefighter (lastname), but since no one here knows who I am, I figured I’d keep with that and not say who I am. But I had to answer the phone at the station with my title, they made us.

And no, I won’t be in NY any time soon. Never been there, don’t forsee any circumstance that would bring me there. And yes, God would have forgiven you! 😃

Just don’t give up on finding a good Catholic woman…we do exist, and we’re out there trying to find peope like you, too!

I’m not talking about sin, just about trouble.
And you don’t think sin is trouble?

Whatever, even in it’s secular form, ā€œtroubleā€ still leaves much to be desired:

TROUBLE:
  • to disturb the mental calm of; worry; distress; agitate.
  • to put to exertion, pains
  • to cause bodily pain, discomfort, or disorder, to afflict:
  • to vex, or bother:
  • to disturb, agitate, or stir up
Yeah. I can’t wait to get some of that that … :whacky:
No matter how saintly a woman you marry, if she is a woman, she’s bound to bring at least a bit of trouble to your life.
I was married for 10 years, so I’m quite familiar with the ā€œtrouble’sā€ that a relationship can bring.

But the things that you are referring to are not what I call ā€œtrouble’sā€. They’re just mere annoyances is all.

Big difference.
I mean, she’ll probably put the toilet paper roll on the wrong way and forget to leave the toilet seat up and all.
UNACCEPTABLE!

40 LASHES MANDATORY!

… Do you think you would rather avoid trouble or maybe learn to appreciate a little trouble every once in a while?
Well …

What I think I would like to do is to avoid trouble as much as possible, while learning to appreciate my ability in having done so.

Yup. That’s what I think.šŸ‘

I agree with most of what you have said, except that I wouldn’t call anyone who has been brainwashed by a cult ā€œan idiotā€.

That’s a bit too harsh …
And no, I won’t be in NY any time soon … And yes, God would have forgiven you! 😃
And So Does Thou Now Assumest To Speaketh For God?

LOL

Well then, tell your Cathloic single sisters to step it up a notch!

Hrrrmmppph!šŸ˜‰

I’m going to dub the Fireman, ā€œBad Boy Frankā€!

How’s that for a spark? šŸ˜›
