Everything is in G-d’s time and according to His will, not ours.

One source of confirmation was someone I did not know. The other source was someone in authority over me who I barely knew. Jesus can confirm or refute the promise that was made to me. He is someone and he is here. There was no intention of suggesting that you personally made anything up, aside from the awareness that in good faith, people can easily believe what they want to believe as not a matter of consciously makings things up.
It is also true many things can be in operation as to why others might agree with and support what we believe or want to believe, or simply that we hope for. It doesn’t need to be conscious deception, but a matter of personality or or attachment or whatever.
Basically you are fearing it might appear, that God is failing you? That is the impression that could be received, However it seems more likely that good will and hope on your part and others for you may have convinced that God made a.promise that He appears He may have failed to complete , although while you live there is still time for you to achieve any goals …it also could be that any of them might have seen it as necessary encouragement
God promises what He promises in Scripture. That He might promise what transpires in advancement in our careers?
Certainly we and our associates might honestly want to believe so. The human mind and heart, very complex and not necessarily trustworthy.
I prayed for you in good faith. I dont doubt your sincerity itself, and even that of your friends or contacts, just the reality, and no one here can affirm or deny your belief about a promise for career and life direction you believe God made you, because no one but God can know all that is consciously or unconsciously in operation in others words or beliefs.
We can only either remind that God’s time isn’t our time, as Abraham found, but also that in the complex human mind and psychology, and personality we can’t always be certain that our private beliefs or those of others are based in fact or hope, or even, as each of us have isolated mental frameworks, that we ever really understand each other or where the motivation or the thought and feelings of others spring from.
Basically just because others support us doesn’t mean that we all are correct, for complex reasons, not intentional deception.
Thus telling us that others agreed that you were promised, doesn’t give us the conviction that it’s a true personal promise of career advancement that God made anyone…
Again I can only pray that God will continue to bless you and guide you in all things temporal and spiritual
And to apologise for the length of my post, written in an awake period of my night, but not edited as I should get back to sleep
It sounds like you may have been putting your life on hold in some ways waiting for this ‘promise’. It would really be helpful I think to get some spiritual direction of the Ignatian kind to help you discern spirits. You could be missing the answers passing through your life by being stuck on expecting your own version of how this ‘promise’ should manifest. God bless you on your journey.I have been waiting 40 years for God to fulfill a promise He made to me that I had not asked for or prayed for. What’s the hold up? At this point I can’t go further career-wise unless He fulfills the promise that He made to me. I have done all that I can do.
