60's Comic Illustrator R. Crumb Illustrates Genesis

Robert Crumb, who became famous for his late ‘60’s comic book illustrations such as Mr. Natural, Keep on Truckin’, Zippy the Pinhead and Fritz the Cat (subject of a full-length X-rated cartoon movie), has produced an illustrated Book of Genesis, which is available in bookstores.

Warning: Those who know Crumb will know that he has illustrated the various scenes of the bible involving sexual acts. No revealing images are included in the link above, however.
 
interesting but it doesn’t look like he will be trying to become a spokesperson for the church anytime soon. thanks for the info.
 
Robert Crumb. He was huge in the last 1960s and early 1970s, but mostly among counter-cultural, hippie, dope-smoking types. Of course, I heard about him from acquaintances. 😉
 
I recently got a copy of this from Amazon because I like Crumb’s drawing style. I haven’t had time to read it yet, but based on a quick flip-through, it doesn’t appear to be disrespectful.

Thanks. I did a search on him and found familiar artwork. I was too ‘redneck with white socks’ for that counter-cultural stuff too.:cool:

As far as I know, Robert Crumb did not become famous. He is a good illustrator but his choice of subject matter could best be described as dirty. It was obsessively sexual.

If you remember “Mr. Natural,” shown as the big-foot-striding Keep On Truckin’ guy, you have seen R. Crumb’s work. You probably have not seen any other thing unless you were into weird comic books at some point or saw the (excellent) documentary about him.
