Are Christians so distant to God ?
🙂 you are absolutely right dear, Christians are distant to God, but God is not distant to Christians and all believers. You know that He is like a shepherd who is trying to find all the lost sheep and as yo know the sheep is always wondering far and wide.

But I asked if Allah is distant to the muslims and not the other way around 🙂 seems you dont get it.

You ever seen one walking around with smething that looks like a necklace or a rosary praying the 99 names?
#21 Al-Qaabid - The Constricter, The Retainer, The Withholder
#62 Al-Mumeet - The Creator of Death, The Destroyer, The One who renders the living dead.
#81 Al-Muntaqim - The Avenger, The One who victoriously prevails over His enemies and punishes them for their sins. It may mean the One who destroys them.
#91 Ad-Daarr - The Distresser, The One who makes harm reach to whoever He willed
Hi Janet,

True, I have seen many a moslems who roam around with rosaries and use it as some jewellery piece or some toy, Many dont even know how many beads are there in their rosary,

Well for your information, its 33, 66 or 99 depending on the size. 🙂

I too keep on wondering what they do with the rosaries when I see in their hands, just rotating their hands on the beads, ad talking to their friends as if its some sort of a new toy.

If Allah is a personal name of God, it’s funny he did not introduced himself as YHWH or ‘I AM’.
in Islam.

Muslims have given 99 names for Allah, and they are quite nice, but one of the most important one is not given which we Christians address God.
Father, Our Loving Heavenly Father
Any reason for not addressing Allah as Father? Is Allah so distant to Muslims?
If I’m not wrong Muslims believe that Allah can do whatever He likes- be distant, be loving, etc. That would be why (I assume) some the the 99 names are seemingly contradictory.
We Christians (I’m not sure about the Jews) however believe God cannot be certain things, that if He were to seem so it’s because people think wrongly about Him, or something like that.
So for a Muslim to say definitely that Allah loves him/her no matter what would be disrespectful to say the least, while any Christian who does not believe God loves him/her no matter what shouldn’t call him/herself a Christian.

That would be why (I assume) some the the 99 names are seemingly contradictory…
I can pick up God’s names from your Bible and say they are contradictory…for instance,(The First) contradicts (The Last)…for example,How can someone be the first in the line and at the same time he is the last ?? God is the Last of what ?

note, that The First and The Last are also mentioned in the Quran.

I can also say “God is Love” is contradictory… How can a loving God throw people in hellfire…

you have to see the full picture… AL-Muhiee (The one who brings life) does not contradict Al-Mumeet (The one who takes life)…

Ruben, I don’t want to go into this, but not all Muslims believe that “Allah” is God’s personal name.

Prayer beads are not that common in Muslim contries…some use it just to play with it in meetings and waiting rooms… and note that some scholars even call it “Bidah” i.e an innovation in religion.

And there it is. Because this is to be His name for all generations, for all men in all times.

The Father part, though telling, is more about God’s relationship with man and, under Christian thought, His relationship within the Trinity.

The fact that the Name of God given to Moses to be a sign to all men is left off of the list of 99 names is much, much more interesting.

Interesting fact: Muslims claim God dose protect the poor, create creations and creatures, takes care of mankind, has mercy on us, and chooses Muslims as His spiritual sons and daughter…yet won’t claim that God is a father. It’s the equivalent of an atheist claiming the beginning of the Universe was an omnipotent, omniscient, infinite being…yet won’t claim that he’s talking about God. And if that’s offensive, than you’re reading my words in the wrong way. Just making a comparison, not saying Muslims don’t worship God.
This isn’t true, in Islam it is a slave/master type of relationship.

Can you provide the text where allah claims mohammed or Mohammed’s followers as spiritual sons and daughters?

Allah is a name for God otherwise your shahada would be there is no other allah than allah.

There are many contradictions in Islam.

Allah and God are not the same? Why should they be given the same name?
[]=5"]Qur’an 5:73](“http://islam.thetruecall.com/modules.php?name=Quran&func=goto&gotoparam=5:73&at[)
Jesus is not Allah’s son and therefore Allah simply is not a father…

Ironic that the Muslims are so busy worrying about what others do in their religions and then they have so many misunderstanders of Islam in their midst. Maybe if they stopped worrying about what other people do in their religions they wouldn’t have so many misunderstanders.

Don’t Muslims commit shirk when they pass judgement on others? Isn’t that god’s job to do the judging?

Anyway, back to the thread. They do give him the same name but they claim they do not.

If one goes back to Mohammed’s time you will find that Allah was one of many gods so that is why the phrase ‘there is no other god but Allah…’ instead of ‘there is no other allah but Allah…’. Mohammed just ejected out all the other gods from Islam. At one point he almost left in Allah’s three daughters but then kicked them out too. I wonder how they explain that a book given to Mohammed that was Allah’s divine word at one point decided to keep the three daughters, then decided to kick them out? This is another contradiction.

The 99 names of Allah do not contain Yahweh which would tie Islam to the other two religions so it can be said that Islam is not associated with Judaism or Christianity even though they really want to be. But here again is a contradiction. They want to be a part of Judaism and Christianity but in the Koran we are told time and again that Allah hates them and wants them dead and burning in hell.

Can Allah, or whatever he calls himself, ever make up his mind?

That would point to the Alpha and the Omega, Greek alphabet. To the Jews and Christians, that would mean GOD is eternal. YHWH has no beginning nor end.

Thanks Hadi!

Now whenever a Muslim tells me there are no contradictions in Islam, I will use this quote to prove them wrong.

Allah is a name for God otherwise your shahada would be there is no other allah than allah.
First part of Shahada:
La ilaha illa llah

“There is no ilah but Allah”

Allah = contraction of al-ilah
al- = the

“There is no ilah but the ilah”

ilah = god

There is no god but the god.

Need I say more?

I agree, God is neither male nor female.

In his revelation to man though, in relation to them and his creation, God has revealed himself in masculine terms because he is the instigator, the first cause.

As such he is the husband of Israel his chosen; and they commit adultery when they turn away from him to other gods.

For Christians, God has revealed he is Father (to his only Son) not that he is father after human fathers but rather all fatherhood is in his image. No one is father as God is Father.

There is a lesser used name for God in Judaism:

Avinu Malkeinu = Our Father, Our King.

I don’t think “name” be a good word, It is better say “parrameter”. When we call god bounteous it is not just his name, he realy is bounteous, but my English is not good and may in English language it can be true!

On the other hand, Allah doesn’t have only 99 parameters, you can 1001 ones in great Joshan verse.

And in answering your question you must ask yourself "What does father mean?"

If you mean he is the one married your mom, absolutly you are wrong!!

If you mean he is your creator, in Islam we call him “khalegh” and “khallagh” and “sane”

If you mean he loves you as your dad, In Islam view God loves all ones more than every one. He ever loves sinners and kafirs. He loves us more than our mothers and fathers. We call him “Vadud” and “Rahman” and “Javad” and “Karim” and “raoof"and Rahim”.

We don’t need call god like you to be true!

This is not correct. The word *ilah *means god (its exact meaning is something that is worshipped), and the word *allah *means God. *Allah *is most likely not a contraction of al-ilah, but a loanword from the Aramaic/Syriac word for God Alaha/Aloho. So the real meaning of the Shahadah is ‘there is nothing worthy of worship except God’

Your Arabic is worse than my English!

“al” has several meanings. In “allah”(al+elah) al shows exclusive. al-elah means “The God who there are no god except him” and in short meaning means “only God”

“la elah ella allah” means:

la: there is no

elah: God

ella: except

allah: only God

“There is no God except only God” or “There is no God more than one God”

I do not know if you have heard this prayer or understood it at all, thats why you feel that only married to my mother would make God the father of all mankind, now thinking of that what would that make my mother?

Mathew Chapter 6
9"This, then, is how you should pray:
" 'Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10your kingdom come,
your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.

See, its OUR, not mine, but OUR, ie the UNIVERSAL, including every person, who will accept Him in that respect. We are all His children, but maybe muslims dont feel so, thats why they have that strange relationship, of revange when something goes wrong somewhere, instead of letting Him be the action taker.

Makes me feel that Muslim allah is not the same God we believe in.

:blessyou:

All should read from the “Cloud Of Unknowing” All could read from Matthew 6:6 - But when you pray, go to your inner room, close the door, and pray to your (Father) in secret.
And God, Allah will speak to you in private.
