By “they” do you mean “The Bible” and “Son of God” or do you mean the producers, Roma Downey and Mark Burnett?

Downey is Catholic. Burnett is Protestant.

I hate to say this, but I didn’t like the first episode, but I did like the Bible series last year. I’ll keep watching it though as I want to keep an open mind. It just seems like they have changed somethings around that are different than what is in the bible, but this is better than watching any of those reality shows.

I think the main reason I didn’t like it was because I have seen so many crucifixion scenes to judge it against. What I am really interested in is how they handle the story after his resurrection.
 
Compared to O’Reilly’s Killing (the UN-historical/heretical) Jesus, it was Gone With the Wind.

It was good imo, in spite of some PC “Diversity or die”…“poetic license”. As someone said above, at least their Christ was Divine. We’ll see what historical liberties they take going forward though. Let’s see what they do with the primacy of Peter, ordination, etc.

I think Roma Downey considers herself a Catholic. Pretty sure Downey’s an Evangelical though (I could be wrong). Let’s see if she knows her faith if he is, because when Catholics don’t, the Evangelical version always seems to win out. It’s more “Inclusive” (whatever that means) I guess.

We’ll see! So far, so good…I sound like an inquisitor (lol)–that’s because I’m a Revert!–the Revert Inquisition!

I agree. If she is not a practicing Catholic who believes in the beginning of the Church as set forth in Acts - we will have the evangelical version!

I meant to say that I think Burnett’s an Evangelical. Sorry (no sleep last night).
 
So if John and James are black, this discredits the film production too much for you ? :rolleyes:

No, just that they have to be consistent.

Watched the first episode and both apostle James aren’t in it… only Peter, John, Matthew, Judas and an unnamed one, probably Thomas from the next episode preview - the rest of the Twelve are missing. Odd.

Also the Passion trials were always shown to be in public, no private audiences.

And I think this is the first I’ve seen of Caiaphas’ wife.

The trial before the Sanhedrin was before the hierarchy of the temple and various people who had connections to get in, which Peter and John managed to procure.

However, they were not outside before the mobs.

What’s up with the guards laying down when the tomb started to open? Is it possible they were sleeping on the job?

Roma is Catholic and Her husband is Protestant. Also, one or both were married before yet she is a practicing Catholic anyway

And if so, how do we know for sure Jesus was dead, wasn’t stolen and rose from the dead?

We talked about this some in another thread several weeks ago, but would like some (name removed by moderator)ut from others.

But in the movie they were laying down before the glowing angel appeared, I think. Anyone have this recorded who can look and see if the guards were laying around, possibly sleeping prior to the angel?

They were reclining on the ground, but awake and talking, and when the angle appeared they became fearful were trembling.

Last night was the 2nd episode and it’s very good.

Shouldn’t they have been standing guard? I know this is a movie, but assuming guards reclined, how do we know they didn’t fall asleep and the body wasn’t stolen?
