No. To my knowledge it doesn’t, but that doesn’t mean that He didn’t. Scripture doesn’t mention that He appeared to His mother for example, but it would make sense that He did.
The gospels are very terse, almost maddeningly so. They’re an outline, almost talking points, of what the apostles and the early Church was teaching (according to Pope Benedict, the synoptics addressed to the general public, and John to the priestly class which makes sense to me) . They don’t and were never meant to represent the sum total of Jesus Christ. “Sola Scriptura” diminishes Christ and constricts Him. He’s much more than just the sum total of the gospels.
So JimR’s above quote from John is important–No, scripture doesn’t mention that He did, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that He didn’t-and again, I think of Mary. I’ll bet that even many/most Evangelicals believe that He appeared to His mom, even though it’s not mentioned in scripture, and if to her, to how many others? We don’t know…and on that note!–Why do the Sola Scriptura crowd virtually all portray Christ as looking the way virtually everyone portrays Him as looking?? Scripture doesn’t say a word about it. Tradition does though!..hmm…Following Sola Scriptura to it’s obvious end, all pictures/paintings of Christ should be whited out (including A.D.).
