awwwww, read this email she wrote 2 weeks before the birth of her son

To the Sisters, Brother, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Friends of Trig Paxson Van Palin (or whatever you end up naming him!):

I am blessing you with this surprise baby because I only want the best for you. I’ve heard your prayers that this baby will be the happy and healthy, and I’ve answered them because I only want the best for you!

I heard your heart when you hinted that another boy would fit best into the Palin family, to round it out and complete that starting five line-up. Though another girl would be so nice, you didn’t think you could ask for what you really wanted, but I knew so I gave you a boy.

Then, I put the idea in your hearts that his name should be “Trig,” because it’s so fitting, with two Norse meanings: "True and “Brave Victory” …

Then, finally, I let Trig’s mom and dad find out before he was born that this little boy will truly be a GIFT. They were told in early tests that Trig may provide more challenges, and more joy, than what they ever may have imagined or ever asked for. At first the news seemed unreal and sad and confusing. But I gave Trig’s mom and dad lots of time to think about it because they needed to understand that everything will be OK. …

This new person in your life can help everyone put things in perspective and bind {you} together and get everyone focused on what really matters. The baby will expand your world and let you see and feel things you haven’t experienced yet. He’ll show you what “true, brave victory” really means as those who love him will think less about self and focus less on what the world telss you is “normal” or “perfect.”…

Trig will be his dad’s little buddy and he’ll wear Carhartts while he learns to tinker in the garage. He’ll love to be read to, he’ll want to play goalie, and he;ll steal mom’s heart just like Track, Bristol, Willow, and Piper did. And Trig will be the cuddly, innocent dependent little brother that his siblings have been waiting for… in fact Trig will - in some diagnostic ways - always be a mischievous, dependent little brother, because I created him a bit different than a lot of babies born into this world today.

Every child is created special, with awesome purpose and amazing potential. Children are the most precious and promising ingredient in this mixed-up world you live in down there on earth. Trig is no different, except he has an extra chromosome. Doctors call it “Down syndrome,” and Downs kids have challenges, but can bring you much delight and more love than you can ever imagine! …

Trig’s mom and dad don’t want people to focus on the baby’s extra chomosome. They’re human, so they haven’t known how to explain this to people who are caring and are interested in this new little Alaskan. … Some will think Trig should not be allowed to be born because they fear a Downs child won’t be considered “perfect” in your world. …

Many people will express sympathy, but you don’t want or need that, because Trig will be a joy. You will have to trust me on this.

I know it will take time to grasp this and come to accept that I only want the best for you, and I only give my best. Remember though: “my ways are not your ways, my thoughts are not your thoughts… for as heavens are higher than earth, my ways are higher than yours!”

I wrote that all down for you in the Good Book! Look it up! You claim that you believe me - now it’s time to live out that belief!

Trig can’t wait to meet you. I’m giving you ONLY THE BEST!

Love, Trig’s Creator, Your Heavenly Father

I love it. Trig is truly blessed to have her for his mom. God sure DOES know what He’s doing.🙂

‘Trig’ is, if anything, an anglicised spelling of the Scandinavian Trygve, and it does not bear that meaning.

She’s put two word together here.

The old Norse word for true is tryggr.

The name is still used today, but without the r.

I haven’t had a chance to look up the rest, but I’m betting she has two different Norse words in one there.

She is a good hearted woman, a good heart and a good life. Whatever she does I hope she continues on as successful as she has been, without all the hatred.

It’s a beautiful e-mail, no matter what the Norse word(s) mean. There are some beautiful truths in that e-mail that make me think Sarah Palin is a good woman with a good and generous heart! God bless her! And God bless all those with Down Syndrome and their families in the world!

You did a fact check on the name meaning?

This woman was about to have a baby - all emotional, writing a letter to her future child. When I looked up my Daughter’s name, I went to a ton of different websites and a lot of them had contradicting meanings. Maybe she did something like that 🤷

It’s just weird to me the things people pick out of what is said. Out of a long, beautiful letter from a Mother to a Child, the one thing that is slightly unfactual and really besides the point all together.

Amen 👍🙂

As the father of a special needs child (now with God), I can unequivocably say that the emotions expressed by Sarah are spot on the money. My wife is a hard-core Sarah Palin fan, and we got to meet her “briefly” during the 2008 campaign. There is something to be said about the kinship felt between the parents of special needs kids who offer their passion and sacrifice up to God.

I was wondering how people were going to attack Darah based on the awesome and touching email.

Attacks must be made, no matter what the subject matter. It’s the principle of the thing, don’t you know. She isn’t perfect, therefore she must be destroyed.

A rather nitpicking and not particularly relevant comment perhaps, but attack? A bit of an exaggeration I think.

While I’m no fan of Sarah Palin the politician, she has her qualities as a person and a mother. I imagine it’s quite difficult to raise a special needs child, though perhaps that enhances the reward of the experience. I’m glad shes found that to be the case.

American attitudes toward the inherent value of all human life, no matter what, are finally starting to turn around to where the majority are now seeing the truth about abortioin.

The eugenics attitude that arose out of Darwinism in the early years of last century where such ‘undesireables’ would be eradicated from the gene pool is more and more being seen as the monstrosity that it has always been.

I think that Trigg and proud mom Sarah Palin were a big part of turning attitudes around. The whole of America saw the love of a mother, and the hatred against her that animated her enemies from the side of the culture of death.

And so much of that hatred centred on her family and her unbridled delight in her baby.

Good people saw this, and they began to understand exactly where they stood in regards to the sacredness of all human life.

Sarah and Trig are playing a big, big part in this metanoia, this conversion of the American imagination away from the scientific ‘rationalism’ of eugenics towards the transcendant reality of love expressed in that very public relationship between Sarah and Trigg.

God bless Sarah Palin and Trigg for this. It was a long time in coming.

THIS is the REAL Sarah Palin, Folks! Americans will be proud to call her Mrs. President one day, if we are fortunate enough to be blessed by God. :gopray2: Rob

Talk about adulation for “The Annointed One.” Looks like there is plenty of inflated praise coming from the Right as well.

“a big, big part in the metanoia” oh please.

Actually, it is many on the LEFT who chose to see a very common man who is good at reading a teleprompter as the "Anointed one". People who are squishy about faith in God, and those who believe in nothing transcendental still have a need to believe in something or someone greater than their own flawed selves. Thus, there have always been charlatans willing to fill that void.
Sarah Palin is a woman for whom millions of good people in America have profound respect. She walks the walk in a way others of faith admire. We do not revere any person. No one faints at her speeches, terrific as they are, nor will they. She's just a person, a vibrant, kind person. And, a committed, courageous lover of America, and a leader in the finest sense of the word. Rob

I think it is the extreme venom of the left against this good woman that has finally caused a lot of us to find our voice and begin defending her. Beautiful e-mail messages like the one that started this thread make her an easy person to like. I don’t know if she would make a good President or not. But I like what I know about Sarah Palin as a good and decent human being.

And that is exactly why the left is so freaked out about the mere possibility that she will run for the Presidency. She IS a good and decent human being, who’s reputation and character survived the scrutiny of 24,000 e-mails (she didn’t withhold any of the requested e-mails when they were requested. Someone with that level of character would not put up with the left’s insistence on moral ambiguity, and would run the ship of state in a way they simply can’t stand.

This is nonsense. “The Left” is not a collection deviant amoral perverts seeking to crush virtue and hate her because they think she’s a good person. Most don’t like her because they disagree with her. Many of course genuinely don’t think she’s very intelligent, and I honestly don’t entirely disagree with them in some respects, though vharity is lacking in much of the criticism of her (but remember, politics is the business she’s in, and she did after all choose that path for herself).

Personally, I am a bit annoyed by the inability of many to seperate their opinions of her as a person from their opinions of her as a politician. I grant they she mayu well be the nicest and most decent person on the planet (I’ve never met her, so I can hardly judge her in that respect). At the same time, I disagree with much of her politics and do not think she would be a good president, and so I will criticize her id I want even if she is a nice person or a good mother, because nice people and good mothers are as capable as being wrong about economic policy or foreign policy as anyone else.

And Borealis, most liberals are not afraid of her at all, much as you may want to think that. I don’t think of myself as a liberal, but I’m not a conservative (by American standards) and I am most certainly not afraid of her. I’m rather indifferent to most of what she says or does, though I will fear for the GOP’s chances in the general election if she wins the nomination.

I would personally LOVE LOVE LOVE for Sarah Palin to run for President!

I am actually annoyed that she seems to be backing away from the possibility.

I say “RUN SARAH RUN!” I mean PLEASE run!
