Here is a family history. Supposedly they were Calvinist New Englanders. However, one member of the family wrote fiction that seems to me to have had a somewhat Catholic perspective.

One author in 1880 thought that he could be related to newadvent.org/cathen/14208a.htm However, as uninterested as Catholics are in genealogy, does anybody have any information on this?
It would be GREAT if he were in some way related to Bishop Martin John Spalding, or Maryland Catholics in any way.
I hope this is the best place for such a question-- Church History and Social Justice are related, given the rampant anti-Catholicism in those days.
