A good argument that atheists use, and one that fumbles me

The “Big bang” theory has been touted much and passed back and forth in this thread. Here is the Wiki on the Jesuit Priest who developed it and convinced none other than Albert Einstein of its viability. Is any one of us smarter than that?

It used to be thought the appendix was a vestigial organ and it was removed very often. Now it is known to have function.

Irrelevant to the point I was making.

When the appendix becomes inflamed and toxic, and doesn’t respond to antibiotic medication, it comes out! If not, the risk of death is extremely high and unacceptable.

I will be trusting modern medicine if this ever happens to me. Not prayer and faith healers.

And I bet you would be putting your fate in the hands of the surgeon too

When one approaches the problem in a way that concludes the appendix is unnecessary then removing it is preferred. When one approaches the problem as if the appendix is designed and understands its purpose then removing it is not preferred, which is the case today. So it is incumbent on science to pursue healing of the appendix not just removing it. See the difference?

The decision to remove the appendix is a clinical one, based on the best outcomes for the patient. I’ll leave that clinical decision to my doctor and surgeon, every time.

What I will never do, is consult a creationist, or IDvolutionist, on the matter as to whether it’s better my appendix is removed or not.

I haven’t the slightest interest in what it’s for, why it’s there, or anything else about it. What I care about is if it reaches a point that to not remove it, when it’s inflamed and toxic and hasn’t responded to antibiotic medicines, will kill me.

Out it comes.

It was, in fact, a Priest who came up with the big bang theory. See it this way: Science is how God does much of his work. Theistic Evolution, anyone? A miracle is(not limited to this, in fact this is only one kind of miracle) when he, as supernatural(above nature) moves physical matter by his own authority.

Also, science is the study of the physical world. The spiritual world cannot be studied through scientific means. It’s simply not sciences’ field, differing even more than the differences of the fields of history and… bird-watching.

There is, of course, a great chapter in the Bible singing the praises of physicians. Don’t remember which book, but you could find it with some searching.

And yes, when that happens, we go to doctors. It’s not Catholics who have problems with that.
