👍 Thinking that our Lord’s prayer, if said more than once, twice or three times, is nothing more than vain repetition and therefore bad, is mind-boggling IMHO.
Yep…

I have often wondered how anyone could live a complete life and not repeat themselves, much less our Lord, in prayer. I would love to see this how this works.🤷

Peace!!!

That is the point exactly, as a JW for over 20 years, no matter what I did, I found myself repeating portions of my meal prayers and other prayers. How can one not repeat? No matter what we do, we find ourselves mindlessly repeating ourselves in prayer. This is part of what I think Jesus was encouraging us to avoid, ‘mindlessly’ repeating our prayers, how can it be heartfelt when one is just saying the words while thinking about something else. We need to connect to God in a real way. That is what matters. I know as a JW, I mindlessly prayed more than I have ever done as a Catholic. So I make it a point to talk to God in real way. I am not always successful, especially when ill, etc but I do my best.

Jesus gave it in response for a request on what to pray for. So the subjects are most important: God’s name, the Kingdom, God’s will…
But notice in verse 7 Jesus warned: “Don’t say the same thing over and over like men of the nations…” (or “don’t use vain repetitions like the heathens” … or “do not heap up phrases (multiply words, repeating the same ones over and over) as the Gentiles do…”)
So he didn’t want us to just recite the prayer over and over like a lucky charm and not even consider what it means. Jehovah’s Witnesses try to follow that instruction.
And JW’s as many verses take it out-of-context. Then JW’s miss the place in the Bible where Jesus repeats the same prayers over and over in the Garden. Is Jesus’ contradicting his own teachings?

Adf,

In order to explain, I ask you to define your understanding of Worship based on what it is you believe.
Well I define worship as “you shall love the Lord God with all you heart and with all your soul and with all you strength”. :signofcross: As a Catholic there is no more complete or full way to do this than receiving the Eucharist. I was just caught off guard when you use the words “the only ones to whom worship is offered”. Would it not be better to say “the only ones to whom perfect or complete worship is offered”?🤷

Peace Bro!!!
