I just really liked this news item from H2O News and wanted to share it:

“Botticelli, Michelangelo, Raphael … some of the painters of the popes of past centuries. The official portraitist of the pontiffs of the twenty-first century is Natalia Tsarkova, a young Russian woman born in Moscow in 1967. She began painting at the age of 5 and never even dreamt, she confesses, that she would become the one to paint the portrait of Pope John Paul II or Benedict XVI.”

The rest is here, in video:

Wow! Definitely worthy of the title “A Michelangelo of the 21st Century”. Her paintings are amazing - as she says in the video, she tries to paint a story, and she most certainly succeeds - this is not “art for art’s sake” - the paintings convey real meaning; they are so vivid. She is a worthy successor to all the Church’s great Renaissance artists!

Yes! She is so blessed to be given such talent and to be able to use it in such a special way.

Thank you so much for posting this. I’m very happy to see that there are artists who understand that the classical approach to painting still has something to offer. Very nice report, and very refreshing to see. 👍
