I just really liked this news item from H2O News and wanted to share it:
“Botticelli, Michelangelo, Raphael … some of the painters of the popes of past centuries. The official portraitist of the pontiffs of the twenty-first century is Natalia Tsarkova, a young Russian woman born in Moscow in 1967. She began painting at the age of 5 and never even dreamt, she confesses, that she would become the one to paint the portrait of Pope John Paul II or Benedict XVI.”
