Slimy!

Is McGarvey trying to pull a swiftie by suggesting that “traditional” is actually “Traditionalist”?
Did the nun dress up for the occasion, to make herself look more…Traditional?

There`s no such thing as “The Middle Ground”: that belongs to the Devil, as well.
Someone “forgot” to point out that Jesus mixed with public sinners, not to confirm them in their sin, but to call them to repentance!

McGarveys credentials sum it up: hes written for Commonweal, America, The Tablet (!), among others. What more needs to be said?

Or, have i totally missed something vital?

Would you care to explain the difference, as you see it?

Eh?
She is a member of the Daughters of St. Paul, and is wearing their habit.

Why on earth would you suggest she is playing “dress up”?

Oh, heavens. The author has written for publications you don’t approve of. Therefore, he can’t possibly have anything valid to say.

Actually it’s a really interesting article. Bernadette is clearly more interested in loving her cousin than in being right. She makes a convincing case for the fact that this is precisely how Jesus approached people (i.e. sinners all).

But something didn’t quite sit perfectly well with me. If you come across a deluded person determinedly setting up a picnic on active railroad tracks, I’m not entirely sure it is a loving thing to merely listen to him, help him fold the napkins and personally decline to sit on the tracks with him because of your own personal, but non-judgemental convictions about the wisdom of the choice!

To be sure, she’d be possibly less effective if she squandered her opportunity simply telling him he’s going to hell in a handbasket. But it does seem to me that at some point in the relationship it might come time to point out to him that his own choices are the cause of the pain and suffering he is experiencing in the broken relationship. That maybe he needs to consider the possibility that what he is attempting just isn’t workable (and there are plenty of statistics to back that up). That maybe the bad old judgemental catholic church might have his long term well being in mind from the beginning after all… But I’m not there, don’t know the guy and can’t discern where he’s at. Lord give this woman wisdom, insight, faith and courage to be your Love to her cousin.
