He said secular Jews. While not exactly how I would put it, he might very will have a point. Secular Jews, by and large, still run Hollywood, don’t have a religion of their own (although many would lable themselves Reform), have really just a heritage (that most know very little about). They tend to be moral relativists and fear religion in general. I wish they would find out more about their own religion and actualy try to practice it.

Folks why don’t we just all calm down okay! What Donahue said was highly inappropriate. Why? Not all Jews deliberately hate Catholics. Only a hand full of people actually hate the church. I know people who are jewish and are fine people and they respect me for who I am and I will love them no matter who they are. The bible says “love thy neighbor as thyself”, practice what you preach! I know there are morally corrupt people who qoute “run all the money in hollywood” both gentile and jew who promote this anti-catholic nonsense and for them its no excuse. Its not just one group of people that promotes anti-catholicism, to place the blame on one group of people is anti-semetic. Padre Pio could tell you in confession what kind of person you really were!

As far as I can tell, he didn’t say all Jews deliberately hate Catholics.

This is what he has on his website:

But a movie that whitewashes a ruthless tyrant—making him into a Christ-like figure—gets the nod. I got the impression that the phrase “secular jews contoll hollywood” was like saying all jews hated Catholics. It came of as sounding that way. It could have been stated in another way is all I’m saying. I get angry sometimes myself.

There are 4 major types of people who believe in the Jewish world:

Orthodox
Conservative
Reform
Secular

Secular Jews do not have a religion per-say (that is why they are called secular). They are Jews by heritage alone. In no way is saying that ‘Secular Jews control Hollywood’ (which is probably a true statement) the same as saying ‘all Jews hate Catholics’ (which is obviously a false statement). Not even close.

Very interesting. I talked to a friend of mine who is Jewish and he said that orthodox Jews literally do nothing on the sabbath. We should pray for them, they will be reunited with us some day. I told him of course that I was a traditional catholic. Secular Jews control Hollywood is not entirely accurate, and holds no merit. It is that there are Secular Jews who control Hollywood are in fact morally corrupt. Some of the people that control Hollywood are gentile. So to say that Secular Jews control Hollywood is a bit of a generalization. That’s my point.

I don’t know. If you have more facts than Donahue, great, if not, it is speculation (which his statement may have been). I have no facts but history to know who might be right. Historically, secular Jews controlled major motion picture studios based in Hollywood.

By the way, Orthodox Jews believe similarly in a lot of the social issues as Catholics. For example, most are anti-abortion.

There is just that little thing about believing Jesus is God and came to earth to die for our sins that separates us 😉

I’n no phsycologist, something happened to some of those ex-catholics when they were children and some of these people evidently experienced hurt somewhere along the line. Its no excuse. Given the non-catholics are winning over souls the best way they know how. A lot of it is just simply ingornorance. I say a prayer for them everyday. I encourage all to pray a rosary daily!

Donahue’s statement is based firmly in fact.

One can disagree with his presentation, but the content of what he said is demonstrably true.
 
Thanks to those who posted the article with Donahue’s explanation. I’m sure that he is often misquoted as he is a big target for the anti-Catholic crowd. It just proves again that we can’t trust much of anything that comes out of the mainstream media these days.
