As has already been mentioned, praying to your guardian angel is a good thing to do to develop a personal relationship. Part of my morning prayers are to my guardian angel, and evenings prayers, too. I also ask my guardian angel to help guide me to do the right thing in all situations during the day. But I can’t depend only on my guardian angel, I have to do my part as well, of course. My guardian angel seems to be fated to be my greatest friend for eternity, so I want to gain a true relationship with my angel. How would I do this?
It’s already been mentioned on this thread, but bears repeating that the part of the morning prayer (from the 1962 missal) dedicated to our guardian angel is thus:
“Angel of God, my Guardian dear,
To whom His love commits me here,
Ever this day be at my side,
To light and guard, to rule, and guide. Amen.”
The part of the evening prayer (from the 1962 missal) that’s devoted to our guardian angel is this:
" O angel of God, to whose holy care I am committed by the divine Mercy, enlighten, defend and protect me this night from all sin and danger. Amen."
So, you can use a combination of the set prayers, mental prayer, as well as just talking to your guardian angel when you need help with something. For instance, if I get lost while driving, I ask my guardian angel to help me to figure out where to go - it usually works. Our guardian angel is our personal helper whose job it is to keep us safe, to do the right thing, and get us to Heaven.
