I am humbled to ask strangers for a prayer for my mom.

She lost my Dad almost 2 years ago this coming Valentine’s Day. Her grief is evident, although she “keeps busy”. She is trying so hard to complete the plans they had for travel, their home, garden, etc. Now that those plans are coming to an end and projects are being completed, her sadness has returned.

Her doctor prescribed meds, but she won’t take them. My sister-in-law and my uncle are encouraging her to try them. I know my mother and I know she wouldn’t want to numb any feeling about Dad–sad or otherwise. She is afraid of forgetting, I think.

I cry for my father daily, I can only imagine the emptiness my mother feels after 54 years of marriage to the love of her life.

Can I ask for your prayers to give her guidance, allow her to feel the love over the sadness and for her to find a new light that does not blind her from my father’s image, but lights her new path?

Thank you for your kindness to strangers. Merry Christmas.

Her sadness is not a medical condition, but a spiritual one. When we experience a loss, there is a tendency to withdraw into ourselves, which increases not only our suffering, but the suffering of those around us and even grieves the Lord. He has bestowed hope and joy upon the world through Christ. He loves your mother so much that He allowed His Son to suffer horribly and die for her, so that she might have faith and trust in Him. Remind her that she would have no sense of loss were it not for the 54 years of gain she was blessed with by God.

Is she a practicing Catholic? If so, suggest increased thanksgiving and prayer during the day to her. Involvement at church through mass attendance, rosaries, adoration, various committees, etc. will help in this regard. Since God provides for everything, it is already waiting for her, but she must take the first step. When she does, she will find that there are others who have suffered even more than she has. Let her know that others are in need of her encouragement. God offers redemption through Christ, but we must actively accept it. He also offers physical and spiritual companionship for your mother, but she must actively accept it. Encourage her to reach out. She might just be surprised at who has been waiting for her.

Merciful God in Heaven, You, above all know the sense of loss, having given Your Beloved Son for the sake of sinners. Look with Divine love upon SidingSister’s mother, comforting her in her sorrow, and restoring her hope of an eternity spent with You, together with our Blessed Lord Jesus, and her departed loved ones. Send forth Your Holy Spirit upon her, that she may be filled with peace at the birth of Your Son, Whom You sent to restore our hope. Gracious Father, you offer peace and joy to all the earth. May SidingSister’s mother come to know that Your joy in creating her is not ending, but just beginning. I ask this through Christ, our Lord, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, One God for ever and ever, Amen.

Praying for your mom.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with Thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Lord you are the comforter and we pray you hold this dear mother close to your heart. Create in her a new dream to follow. Thank you for using her daughter to comfort her and to encourage her to tread into a new direction.

I am praying for your mother, and your entire family. May the peace of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ be with you and your family this Christmas season, and may it remain with you and your loved ones forever!

Praying for your mum, and a good daughter who worries about her god bless :hug1:

Praying for your mom, and for you, too.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with Thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Lord, I lift up to you SidingSister’s mother. May you allow your presence be felt at this time of her sadness and loneliness, fill the emptiness in her heart. I pray that you take her sadness away. May you grant her peace in her heart. Lord, this I ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.

I am so thankful for having asked for prayer. I gained some insight just from reading the outpouring support. Thank you.

I am especially grateful to have some advice on how I might (gently) guide my Mom. She is a very strong and vivacious woman and it may have been that I asked for prayer for myself to be as strong for her. She has the veneer of being truly independant, but in the past few weeks I can see that she needs to hear our voices and share in the joys of my son during this season. She is in Florida and I am in Oregon!

Through all of your prayers, I can feel that my anxiety is lifting—that will help me with assisting my Mom.

You are all very generous. I thank you from the depths of my being.

When my Mom died suddenly 12 years ago, my father also experienced his own type of “death” and was not the same man for the remaining 10 years of his life. It is very difficult to watch a parent grieve for someone we are grieving for as well. I realized, as I think you do, that no matter how much I did, it couldn’t fill the void of a lifelong partner. I encouraged him in prayer, as previously suggested. He did find comfort in grief groups with those who could identify with him. I will keep all of you, and your father’s soul in my prayers. Valentine’s Day was my Dad’s birthday. I hope he was there to welcome your Dad. Stay strong in our prayers!

Keeping you both in my prayers-
How wonderful your Mom was able to share such a lifetime with your Dad. The loss of such a companion is devastating, the loneliness unimaginable.

In the name of Jesus, I pray your Mom remember her husband without sadness or grief but with the deep satisfaction and knowing of having shared such a fantastic lifetime of memories and enduring love. Lord, continue to lend Your strength and Wisdom to SidingSister so that she has the proper Spiritual tools with which to help her Mom through her grief. Amen

54 years with the love of her life is an extraordinary gift from the Lord. What a blessing to have shared so much with another, the good and the challenging. What a tremendous example to the world today.

God Bless you both,
Protect you both
and always keep you both Safe.
In Jesus Name, Amen.
