The news didn’t tell the whole truth. It got people thinking that it’s really a *man *who is preg.

As for me, I’d never see her as a man. She was born a woman and will always be one 'til her last breath. She can annilhilate her body all she wants and it wouldn’t change that fact.

The world can go on lying to themselves.

I’m so disgusted by this in general, and even more so by the way the media is making it out to be a great thing.

What disturbs me the most is what kind of morals will this poor child taught?

The proper term is intersex. Hermaphrodite has been in disuse for over a decade now.

Regarding why it is insensitive and insulting. Hermaphrodite brings to mind fertility and functionality in both sexes. It is also associated with pagan religions and fertility rituals.

Intersexed people in the real world are almost inherently like me, completely barren, sterile and irreversibly so from birth. Being compared to a fertility deity is not exactly…comforting.

Please forgive those of us that are ignorant, Pathia. I understand that may be a lot of us for you to forgive, but I ask anyway.

I believe God created the processes by which we are created and it’s obvious that all of us aren’t born one way or the other. Some are different. But that makes them no less a human creature of God. What DOES make one less of a human is shunning those that “don’t fit” into the majority’s view of what is “right” by God.

Since God creates intersex people, we all should recognize them as such. I’m afraid so many of us just need to be educated so that what can happen with these children need not lead to a life of dispair or shame. I have seen some of your other posts, Pathia and I appreciate your courage and strength.

On a more serious note, I totally agree that it is totally messed up. They’re splashing “pregnant man” all over, not wanting to explain he’s really a woman. Because she is still a woman. period. what i don’t get, is how/why is it so easy for someone to remove their breasts, take hormones, and be able to legally be the opposite sex? that’s just messed up.

And that was obviously treated, and if the photos are true, this pregnancy is obviously not ectopic, given the size of her belly, so it’s not the same situation at all. They can find a progressive doctor or midwife, Oregon’s a very liberal progressive state, there must be dozens, if not hundreds of them.

Not necessarily by choice. Transsexuals for awhile, though it is changing, have been outcasts from the gay movement. This might have just been the first time the editorial staff bothered to accept an editorial on the matter.

I think Beatie may have further hurt the “transexual cause.” I would be interested if other transexuals appreciate what he (she) is doing or resent it. It makes it a bit less believable for others that she (he) has always desired to be a man, when he (she) decides to have a baby.

I think the couple’s action may actually make things worse for transexuals in society.

You have a physical reason for being as you are. The person in the article is still physically a female so the title of the article was misleading.

While you have had some experiences similar to those who consider themselves transexual or homosexual, your case and that of others who are intersexed is different. Biologically/genetically, someone can not demonstrate that you are clearly male or female.

I have great sympathy for someone dealing with attraction towards the same sex and/or strong feelings of transexuality, but they are still physically a man or a woman.

I haven’t talked to any who are upset about it at all. I know perfectly normal non-transsexual men who would carry a baby for their wife if it was possible and the wife couldn’t.

Considering transsexuals are murdered and left dead in the street and the cops never care with a disturbing regularity I question how things can get ‘worse’. I have at least four transsexual friends who are no longer with us because people murdered them, just because they were transsexual. Only a few select cases show up in the news, but it happens very frequently considering we are only 1/10000 1/33000 or so of the population.

I’ve been assaulted, multiple times, had the cops refuse to charge the assaulter, and laugh at me and threaten to lock ME up. I’ve had men try to rape me to show how much I really don’t want to be a woman or to ‘make’ me a woman. I’ve been refused medical treatment by EMT’s and by the emergency room. I’ve been fired over six times for my ‘lifestyle’. My landlords have kicked me out before, I’ve been homeless for months at a time as a result.

How can things get worse, seriously? That is how society treats us on a regular basis. How can it possibly expect us to be sane, reasonable and non-radical. When society treats someone that badly, they WILL fight back any way they can, which includes intentionally breaking the social rules. You will do anything to win, even little things.

Given my experience with transsexuals, given that it often shows as early as the age of 2 or 3, I believe it in itself is another form of intersexism, with an unfound cause as of yet. There are alot more hints towards an actual misaligned brain, which is a physical aspect of your body too.

An MRI of my roommate’s brain will show a female ratio of white/grey matter (they differ between men and women if you didn’t know). She is a non-intersexed transsexual but actually shows a ‘more female’ brain than I do…

It is an interesting theory and may have merit, but we apparently don’t differ on the facts. We don’t know what causes the transexualism. As I said, I have a lot of sympathy for their situation.

Five people I know are now gone, eliminated as human refuse. Only one has gone to trial and that was downgraded to manslaughter as it was a ‘crime of passion’. What is the likelihood of anyone else here knowing five people that were murdered by the age of 28 who hasn’t been in the military? If I expand it to include associates and/or friends of my friends, it balloons to nearly two dozen.

Mutilation? You want to know what mutilation of a transsexual is? How about the friend of a friend of mine who’s genitals were knifed apart into a void. This mutilated void was then used to make them a woman before she bled to death, by the perpetrators on words.

THAT is mutilation.

What are you getting at? Sympathy is a bad thing? It makes me complicit in the death of your friends?

What happened to your friends is a terrible crime, but I don’t think disagreeing with something you personally believe makes me a bad person.

Well, there you go. A man doesn’t have a womb. If you have one, you’re a woman. This person who is pregnant is famale. She is adopting a masculine gender socially, but she is famale.
