Agreed. There are problems between her and her husband, and no detective is needed to know that. Whether there are other problems or not, addressing the issues between her and her husband is the place to start.
The OP might also point out to her husband that those who do not understand their own history are doomed to repeat it. If he does not explore why on earth he married and then tired of someone whom he has loved in the past and who has been faithful to him and done him no wrong, then he can expect that his next marriage will probably start and end in the same way. Even he can’t want that. Even if he thinks he wants out, it is possible to convince him that it is in his best interest to “earn” his way out through joint counselling. I know men who wished now that they had been so wise, and others that are glad they were. The latter group are still married, more happily than ever before.
Do not despair, OP! With God’s help, even this can turn out to be the best thing that ever happened to your marriage. Look upon the crucifix, and know that it is within the power of God to take the worst thing that ever happened and make it into the best thing that ever happened, for those who are willing to trust Him.
It happens also to women. I wanted ‘out’ of my marriage about 8 or so years ago, and we were separated for a short time–thankfully, through prayer and heading back to my faith, I realized that I had a very self centered view of marriage, and that stemmed back to childhood. Had I left my husband, I would have repeated the same thing again with another man, if I never figured out what was wrong to begin with! So true!
Praying for you, V. It will be tough, but keep your faith, stay close to Jesus, and you will be able to get through this.
