Having social evenings youth groups soup kitchens etc is all part of doing what Jesus taught. Paying taxes does not ensure your money takes care of people in need.

As for everyone getting to heaven, why not? Seriously I need to understand why we don’t trust in God’s mercy for all.
God the Son, 2nd person of the Blessed Trinity, the one who will judge the living and the dead, said the following

Mt 7:14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few

He is saying, few go to heaven. The rest go to hell. He ought to know.

Do you believe Him?

Keep in mind God is merciful and God is also just.

God is so merciful that he sent his only begotten Son to save us. Why did Jesus have to die? Because God is also just. Someone has to pay the price of Adam’s sin to re-open the gate of heaven.

The death of Jesus paid all our debt so we may have a way to go to Father. Yet this salvation is not without our cooperation. That is why Jesus told the disciples to go to all the nations and make all people disciples. We must accept the salvation to have the salvation.

We can pray and hope all will be saved. The reality is not all will be saved. The just God has given everyone free will. To accept Jesus and to follow all his commandments is a personal choice. How to choose decides our fate of eternity. There is no universal salvation.

I don’t think anyone can know this for sure. Even the church does not go as far to say anyone is in hell.
We trust many are in heaven, I wonder why we never say such and such are in hell?

The church never says so and so is in hell for the sake of charity.

Check this website out. Fr. Jose gave his personal experience.
I was surprised when I saw in hell even Priests and Bishops, some of whom I never expected to see. Many of them were there because they had misled the people with false teaching and bad example.
Fr. Jose said he saw many in hell that surprised him. But he would never name them. It is for charity.

Many Saints had vision of hell and saw people suffer there.

“Neither the Diocese of St. Augustine, nor any other Catholic Church authorities have investigated, approved or in any way endorsed the factual or theological contents of the Father Jose Story.”

Still I read it. Sounded like a really intense dream in parts, but I’m not in a position to say if it’s truth or fantasy.
I know the power of prayer can heal.

Thanks for sharing it.

It was no dream

The doctor who took care of Fr Jose during his convelescence from the car accident, told Fr Jose he would never walk again. Fr Jose told the doctor he was told by Jesus that he would walk again. The doctory was so impressed with Fr Jose’s recovery he converted from Hinduism to Catholicism.

I was listening to an EWTN mass one morning on TV, and Fr Joseph Mary Wolf gave the following homily on Fr Jose

Father Jose Maniyangat Story Hell,Heaven and Purgatory …

Thanks, Steve, for sharing the EWTN homily. I have watched that homily before, and it is always good to re-watch it.

Thanks, I listened to the first 20 mins and then skimmed through the rest 😊

Yes the priest says we need not put our faith in what Fr Jose experienced, there have been many accounts of hell after all.
When he described purgatory it sounded much like our state here on earth.

I’m glad Fr Jose recovered from his injuries and is able to heal others.

Well, we were discussing sin, I thought. So if “stealth arianism” is a reality, feel free to present a real example of it, (none of this “lack of crawling” or “niceness” ) and we can try to determine if a sin has occurred. Next, we can try to determine if lack of awareness and/or blindness is a factor.
In reply to post 138.

Yes. Certainly sin needs to be discussed …And certainly awareness and/or blindness is a factor. As you suggested --“feel free to present a real example of it”

However, stealth Arianism refers to Jesus Christ. Does that mean that Christ sinned?

Following your thoughts about sin, have you determined Christ’s sin? What awareness did Christ lack? How was blindness a factor in the life of Christ? And the really important question – have you forgiven Christ?

🙂 Let’s see. Start a little earlier. 2013 maybe? It’s a lot of reading. You and I could take it up if you like, but that would be off-topic, right? And it does take a lot of back and forth discussion.

Like I told Peter, please join the thread that I hope to start in a couple of weeks. It will be something like “Does anyone ever knowingly and willingly reject God?”.

Thanks for coming to defense for Granny, though. She is wonderful. I do not intend to disparage her at all.

Thanks:)
Thank you for your kind words. Apparently, you have not seen me on my cranky days. 😉

Something triggered my mind regarding omniscience. Usually, I avoid omni words because either I cannot spell them or I cannot pronounce them. I wonder what would happen if an omni word described Adam. Would that remove the action of Original Sin? If Original Sin was removed, that would remove the base for Christ’s Divinity. Could it be that an omni word is some kind of stealth Arianism in disguise?
