If you are attending a regular OF Mass on Sunday or Saturday evening…you will see very, very few head coverings. Maybe one or two in a packed Church of several hundred people.
If you attend daily Mass in the morning…the number jumps to 25% or so.
If you attend the Latin Mass…it’s probably closer to 50%.
This is a parish that is far more conservative then any of the other parishes in the surrounding area.
Personally…I prefer scarfs over my hair. I have a couple of pretty ones that I wear to Mass on occasion.
My daughter loves them and has been known to “hide” them on me. So I can’t always find them when we are getting ready for Church.
I find they stay on my head far better…especially when I use a couple of bobby pins to keep them on. Stylish, practical and still traditional IMHO.
My daughter is 18 months and would yank a veil off of my head before I make through the Church door and then make a massive fuss if I refused to let her have it. It wouldn’t matter if I gave her a veil of her own. She’d want the cool thing on mommy’s head.
Scarfs don’t hang as loosely over the head and can be secured in place.
