A Renaissance of Chapel Veils

The black veils seem to be a tradition when Presidents and their families meet the Pope. I just looked at photos of Michelle Obama, and Laura Bush wearing black veils as well.

You’re probably right but I think there is a Vatican dress code protocol for dignitaries who have a private audience with the Pope.

According to an article on Aleteia

"The Ladies Trump were simply complying with a detailed and time-honored Vatican protocol for women in formal diplomatic circumstances. That protocol requires:
Code: 
Formal black clothing, with the knees, upper arms, back, and decollete covered.
Black close-toed shoes with low or moderate heels.
A black head covering, usually interpreted as a black lace mantilla (veil) like the one Melania Trump wore (Ivanka’s headpiece was a bit more fashion-forward, but dignified)."

I also saw an article that the First Lady is Catholic. If she is, it doesn’t seem she practices her faith as such since the Trumps were married in an Episcopal Church.
 
Strange how they all follow man made protocols that likely made obvious sense back in the day but which none of them now really understand and which God and Pope Francis likely don’t care about providing everybody is well intentioned.

Pretty much like this topic on veils really.

Well, DT was twice divorced, so maybe not the best candidate for marriage in a Catholic church.

There’s something off about a man telling a “woman of God” how she ought to look when at worship.

Also, I’ve never seen a woman dressed anything like your second pic at Mass, anywhere I’ve ever been. Even when going to Mass in summer beach towns.
 
Which reminds me of this Aussi ad about when togs (swimming clothes) suddenly turn into pornography.

 
I don’t veil, and have only seen two women, maybe in their 60s, do so. I’ve always thought veils were beautiful and IF I ever chose to veil, that would be be my reason for doing so.
