Yeah you are the only folks who consider apostasy as treason. You dont even know what treason is.

And it doesnt apply to america, because the region is not under the thumb of the caliphate. right?

For you, you require the presence of the caliphate. Other muslims simply require the Sharia Law. You both still agree that apostasy deserves death in islam.

yikes. i typed in my answer but then i realized that i should rather help you get a greater sense of empathy and the golden rule. so lets do it this way, try putting your yourself in the shoes of that Afghan who muslims almost murdered for converting to christianity.

If you are that person, how would you feel? what would you think? what would you do?
 
If I were to imagine myself in Afghanistan, I think my concerns would be primarily those of having enough food to eat, having a place to stay, and trying not to get shot or blown up.

But since I see you’re talking about an isolated incident which disturbs you, I have my answer.

Government

If I were a Muslim I wouldn’t worry too much about it. In 200 years the Catholic Church will have ceased to exist, and will be little more than a historical memory. Mormonism and Judaism might exist, but the numbers will be tiny. Islam shows no signs of slowing down, and will probably be competing with whatever the fundamentalist protestants evolve into.

Do you ever wonder what a Westernized Islam would look like? I could totally see a secularish, pro-scientific Islam taking hold in North America. Science and rational thought meshes together much more easily with Qur’an than it does with the Bible.

I don’t know what specifically makes a poll scientific, it is a study conducted by a very respectiable agency.

However beyond that I don’t see what that has to do with what you quoted. There is an absolute aversion to fact and scientific based reasoning rather than emotional retoric.
