So the NFL has declared that on the first week of games, it will play a “Black national anthem”.

Being that those who kneel for the American national anthem are largely praised by the media as brave, virtuous, and demonstrating their right to protest… what if people decided to kneel for the “Black national anthem”?

Would that be also brave, virtuous, and a healthy demonstration of protest?

If not… why?? What would have changed besides simply whether you agree with the protest or not?

And there lies the problem with all this progressivism. It is a complete contradiction.

Simply amazing.

In this era where kneeling is praised, hard to know if kneeling for the so-called “BNA” would be seen as a George Floyd tribute, or as a protest against the “BNA.”

What exactly is a Black National Anthem?

And that doesn’t make any sense at all. Are we going to go backwards? Separate but equal national anthems? What next?

By the way, @Mister_Friscus, do you have a link to this story?

Well, what exactly would one be protesting? The original kneeling was to protest police violence against Black people.

And I’ve certainly been at games where other songs were played prior to the National Anthem — God Bless the USA, for example. And America the Beautiful.

They would be protesting against the lie. There is no systemic racism in America. All this political correct nonsense is predicated on a lie, and rightfully so, the father of lies, Satan himself is behind it.

Yes. There is.

But I’m sure you are free to take a knee during the playing of this song—as I’m sure you also spoke up for the right of Black football players to kneel.

For about 13 percent of the people in this country, Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing is every bit as meaningful and evocative, as these other songs are for many Americans. The NFL has an overwhelming black majority of players. And the contributions of black players to the NBA… no more need be said.

I can’t see a problem with it. Lift Ev’ry Voice has every bit of a place in the American patriotic song pantheon, as all of the other songs you could name.

What are the words in a Black National Anthem?
Lift ev’ry voice and sing
'Til earth and heaven ring
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty
Let our rejoicing rise
High as the list’ning skies
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun
Let us march on 'til victory is won

Stony the road we trod
Bitter the chastening rod
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died
Yet with a steady beat
Have not our weary feet
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered
Out from the gloomy past
'Til now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast

God of our weary years
God of our silent tears
Thou who has brought us thus far on the way
Thou who has by Thy might
Led us into the light
Keep us forever in the path, we pray
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee
Lest, our hearts drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee
Shadowed beneath Thy hand
May we forever stand
True to our God
True to our native land

Cool thank you.

WOW, that’s long… is the music the same as the original ?

Origin National Anthem.
Oh I see. No, it’s its own song with its own music.
(And actually, the National Anthem is quite long. With some offensive verses. We just usually hear the first verse)
