I am not certain if this is the right forum to post this in, so forgive me if I am wrong.

I am curious about this woman; my aunt (who is one of a portion of my family that is highly interested in converting me to protestantism) sent me an e-mail containing this information about a Mother Antonia, and I am wondering on what other people’s thoughts are about it.

She is, according to this article, a “Prison Angel”, and doing a lot of really good work saving souls for Christ.

However, she is quoted as saying that she loves the Catholic Church “but not all it’s rules”, and this bothered me…

it looks like she is a really good person, a practicing Catholic who is doing a lot of good in the world. but she’s been through two divorces herself and has opened a religious community open to divorced women, as well as others? it also seemed a little weird… I think the article might be a little bit too long to post here, but I have it posted on my (new) blog, so here is where you can find it…

it’s the only posting yet, because I really am interested in getting opinions and information on this. thanks.

The above would bother me too, but the fact that the community is open to divorced people is not problematic in itself. Divorcees who live celibate lives may be in good standing with the Church.

but divorcees - can they become religious, or don’t they need an annulment first?
