In the Guardian newspaper (UK) there was a report on a Christian website that is testing the limits of their readers’ tolerance.

In the UK a new bill concerning religious hatred is being passed through Parliment:

publications.parliament.uk/pa/ld200506/ldbills/015/06015.1-4.html#j610

Concerned about the impact on free speech and to see where the line should be drawn a website running a competition inviting jokes about religion. Obviously one church features more prominently than most…

Your thoughts.

The Guardian, of course, printed the “jokes” itself.

Very important, apparently, to the publisher and editor of the Guardian that the public be aware of that website and what was on it.

Tthe Guardian would like to but doesn’t have the guts to just publish that filth itself but instead pretends it is reporting the news.

I was so surprised that the ‘jokes’ 3 out of 4 of which referred to child abuse could be printed in a national paper. These issues are not funny. Furthermore the site from which the ‘jokes’ originated claims to be a Christian site. The last quote from Stephen Goddard one of the commissioning editors sums up their feelings in that they ’ ‘‘wanted to get away from the stained glass Jesus who can’t be laughed at or with… The whole thing is a voyage of discovery for us. We are a conversation, not a campaign.’’ He said he hoped the Christian church could learn from the Jewish tradition of humorous self-deprecation.’

I wonder what subject the Guardian will try to ‘inform’ the public of next? What other tests of tolerance are there going to be? The WWW is a very big place.

Peut-être beaucoup de ceux-ci doivent obtenir leurs têtes de leur anus et rendent compte la religion est une des premières libertés accordées par notre gouvernement.

Religious tolerance was an intent of our founding fathers.
