Lets get real the worst part of democracy is everyone gets to vote the uninformed the uneducated the lazy and so on. Including people who support a culture of death

By far the best form of government would be a monarchy that supports all catholic teachings why as catholics aren’t we pushing this more

Paul Ryan or booby jindel for king of America
Neither are very good Catholics, sure they’re better that Joe Biden and Cuomo, but that’s not saying much.

Be careful about what you consider the “best” form of government. Consider some of the Catholic monarchies during the Middle Ages. Some of them weren’t exactly the ideal place to live either.

Yes, you are going to have problems in a democracy where uninformed or apathetic people vote on issues - or, perhaps worse, those who radically oppose life - but again you can’t escape this problem with a monarchy. After all, you could have an imbecile king or one who is a bloodthirsty tyrant.

And just what should we do with the people YOU have decide are uninformed and uneducated? Are they truly that or they just don’t think like you?

Also, I am sure that people from other religions would just love to live under the rule of Catholic theocracy. Or would you have them segregated to separate parts of the country with large walls and shoot to kill orders to keep them from infecting the Catholic population? Yeah, that’s really work through history 🤷

Why do I get such a “through the looking-glass” feeling from posts like these? 😃

I think any theocracy, regardless of the religious tradition on which it is based, ends up being essentially North Korea. If you liked Sharia…

“It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried.” Winston Churchill.

When Christ Himself comes down to rule the world as King you would be right. It’s a matter of when not if.

Meanwhile we have the Church, Christ’s kingdom on earth. So if you are Catholic you are already are subject to a theocracy, a spiritual theocracy.

Democracy is horrible: secular, man-centered mob-rule.

Theocracy is even worse, however, for it establishes the Church entirely within the State, and marries the State to the Church. This is absolutely horrible, because - despite pious sentiments about baptizing politics - it is always the Church that is corrupted by the state, and not the other way around.

When the state is the church and vice versa, bishops become fat, priests become rich, and the religious are turned into agents of the ministers. The Church is entangled in deceit, treachery, lies, bribery, and corruption. Men are not so strong as to hold back from endless benefices and gifts. The most Catholic countries with an established Church were also creators of the worst evil: France gave us Voltaire, for example, because Voltaire saw the endless corruption of French bishops and thought this discredited the Church. Though he was wrong, it is the common thing that happens to the population in such kingdoms and nations. In this life, theocracy leads to the death of souls, for men are disobedient: clergy and laity alike.

Separation of church and state may be an atheistic communist debating point, but I think even the worst enemies of the church are correct to want separation. It preserves the Church from the horrible influences of the fallen state.

In a good Cathoiclic society, almost any form of government will work well, in a bad non-Catholic society, any form of government will work badly.

We don’t need to change the form of government, we need to pray and evangelize!

👍

Exactly, we have to heed His commandments to be salt and light and to love one another as He has loved us and to love God.

Christianity is a grassroots movement and not a top down movement, spread by some form of temporal power but by ordinary people.

Exactly.

Tried in Lebanon. Caused decades of civil war, still lasting inequality and resentment against the Church.

What would the Irish know about living under a Monarchy?

Oh that’s right, never mind.😃

As I see it, the problem with a theocracy is twofold:
  1. God does not directly communicate with the masses.
  2. If someone says that God spoke to him personally, the rest of us have to take it on faith that a) the entity that spoke to him was, in fact, God, or b) that anyone was actually speaking to him at all.
So we’re right back where we started. I’ll stick with what we have, a democratic republic, and pray that the sheeple get the wool pulled back from their eyes.

I can not imagine why you would consider a catholic monarchy. This battle was fought in the mid 19th Century. The result was:

The Syllabus Of Errors Condemned By Pius IX

While I have empathy for Pope Pius’s motives the publication of the Syllabus was a major miscalculation that incensed both Catholics and non-Catholics and likely hastened the loss of the Papal States.
