I think this is a very brave and good priest - he needs all our support and prayers for preaching and teaching the Truth.

How sad that he is not getting support from his Bishop.

**Pray for this brave priest!

He is being attacked from all sides for defending the Truth!

The Church does not single out gays, any person, whether heterosexual or gay who engages in sexual relations outside of marriage is also chastised & called to repentance & the Mercy of Jesus!

“and you will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.” (Mt 10:22)**

you can email your support & prayers to Fr Rodriguez at his brothers email ?(he apparently has no email) or call the parish at (915) 779-1583. ;

What a wonderful priest Fr. Michael Rodriguez is 👍

From that ABC-7 Xtra interview:

Pifas Silva (non-practicing cradle Catholic, non-celibate same sex attracted man and advocate for “Borderline Gay Rights”) said:

“I think the Catholic Church needs to be in line with society nowadays because going back to old teaching; this is - I mean… - this is not the same world as centurys ago.”

😃

I emailed my support & prayers to Fr Rodriguez at roseanne.rodriguez@gmail.com

Hi, Liza,

Thanks so much for this post. Fr. Rodriguez is a hero, this is not an easy topic to take a stand on, the gay agenda has pervaded our culture.

I’m curious about your comment about the Bishop not supporting Father. I didn’t see that in the clip, is there something else on which you’re basing that comment?

I will write to Fr. Rodriguez, and the Bishop, but I want to make sure I have my facts straight. (no pun intended)

BTW, I am a former lesbian who was in a same-sex relationship for 25 years, and came back to Holy Mother Church July 4, 2009, after being lapsed for 35 years.

I am now a member of Courage (www.couragerc.net). Please remember when talking with anyone with same-sex attraction who wants to live chastely that our apostolate helps in this.

I am sad for Pifas Silva, he has bought into the party line: “I was born this way…where could I have learned it?”

In talking with others with same-sex attraction, it is so interesting to see how protective we all are of our families. I am not placing blame on families, and really for the most part, unless there was real abuse or neglect, neither are the clinicians who specialize in this field.

It is important to note that in most cases, even though there is some kind of critical break in the relationship between the same-sex attracted person and his or her same-sex parent, it’s not necessarily caused by abusive acts or malicious intent.

Did you notice that when Father brought up the Nicolosi quote about the relationship between a same-sex attracted man and his father, Mr. Silva did not jump up and claim a deep satisfying bond with his father? He simply reverted back into the party line: “Where could I have learned it?”

I ask you to remember in your prayers: Courage and Encourage (for families), Fr. John Harvey, Fr. Paul Check, and all the Courage chaplains and supporters, Dr. Nicolosi and all the clinicians who help us uncover our real identities, Fr. Rodriguez and all the clergy and religious who stand up for Truth, and all of us who struggle with this cross. And also let us pray for all those in the gay movement and those who support it, whose hearts are hardened to God’s word, that the Holy Spirit move them toward the Truth.

All God’s blessings,

R

With regard to the section in bold, Fr. John Zuhlsdorf posted both the op-ed piece by Fr. Michael Rodriguez and the response of His Excellency Most Rev. Armando X. Ochoa, Bishop of El Paso to this recent issue:

With regard to the section in bold, Fr. John Zuhlsdorf posted both the op-ed piece by Fr. Michael Rodriguez and the response of His Excellency Most Rev. Armando X. Ochoa, Bishop of El Paso to this recent issue:
With all due respect, Fr. Z is in Rome and apparently is unaware that Bishop Ochoa was not responding just to Fr. Rodriguez but also to another priest in his diocese. The two priests had presented competing interpretations of Church teaching in the El Paso newspaper, and since the controversy was not dying down, the bishop needed to intervene. And perhaps he did so privately - we don’t know. But he also needed to respond publicly.

Bishop Ochoa deliberately did not mention either priest by name. This is a pastoral approach which casts no blame on either priest. What the bishop does is re-state the Church teaching on homosexuality and homosexual acts. And then he urges compassion. If you have read the other priest’s article, you would see that it is out of line with Church teaching. And Fr. Rodriguez’s strident tone could be seen as uncompassionate (although I am not sure it is.)

The assumption that Bishop Ochoa is not supporting Fr. Rodriguez is not founded, at least judging from the bishop’s article. Bishop Ochoa re-stated Church teaching and his statement is consistent with Fr. Rodriguez general claims. However, and lets admit we are all reading between the lines since neither priest was mentioned by name, it could reasonably be assumed that Bishop Ochoa is concerned that Fr. Rodriguez’ articles come across as un-compassionate.
