U.S. Democrats target crisis pregnancy centers with new bill
WASHINGTON, D.C., May 21, 2013 (LifeSiteNews) – Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) has introduced a bill aimed at marginalizing Crisis Pregnancy Centers (CPCs), which serve women facing unexpected pregnancies with counseling and factual information about parenthood, adoption and abortion. CPCs also offer practical support for women who choose to parent, such as baby equipment, formula, diapers and clothing.
It’s not rare, in fact, it’s unbelievable it is more of the rule that Planned Parenthood are against adoption. And of course, the Democrat party is their big supporter to put it mildly.

1st, H.R. 2030 is the “Green Infrastructure for Clean Water Act of 2011” (govtrack.us/congress/bills/112/hr2030#overview)

2nd, Stop Deceptive Advertising for Women’s Services Act is H.R. 5652 and was last attempted in 2010 but went nowhere. (govtrack.us/congress/bills/111/hr5652)

lifesitenews may have actual news from time to time but it’s tedious having to fact check everything they “report”.

Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.), the House sponsor of the Stop Deceptive Advertising for Women’s Services Act (H.R. 2030), said CPCs should not be allowed to deceive women who are seeking information about their pregnancy.
The Hill is a mainstream news source.

Looks like your fact check was not accurate.

Rep. Maloney, Sen. Menendez introduce the “Stop Deceptive Advertising for Women’s Services Act”
WASHINGTON, DC – As the U.S. celebrates National Women’s Health Week, Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) and Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) have introduced the “Stop Deceptive Advertising for Women’s Services Act” (SDAWS), H.R.2030/S. 981, which would crack down on facilities that advertise and promote themselves as providers of abortion services-- yet don’t actually provide abortion services.
“Deception has no place when a woman is seeking information about her health or a pregnancy,” Rep. Maloney said. “Women shouldn’t be deliberately misled or coerced when they seek legitimate medical services. This bill gives the Federal Trade Commission the ability to investigate reports on misleading claims in the same way the FTC can for other consumer products and services. While I will defend crisis centers’ First Amendment rights even though I disagree with their view of abortion, those that practice bait-and-switch should be held accountable so that pregnant women are not deceived at an extremely vulnerable time in their lives. ”
“No one should ever be subjected to misleading information when they are seeking health care, especially during pregnancy,” said Sen. Menendez. “We have worked too hard to expand the availability of women’s health care services to have any confusion created by those who would deliberately deceive a woman to suit their own purposes. I am proud to be an original sponsor of this legislation that is aimed at reducing the risk of women encountering unnecessary worry, anxiety and interference with getting the health care they need.”
“These centers lie to women in the moment they most need accurate information. Deciding how and when to carry a pregnancy to term is the most important decision we make in our lives. It’s despicable that anyone would take advantage of that decision to drive their own political agenda," said Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “We’re thrilled that Rep. Maloney and Sen. Menendez are acting to hold these fake ‘clinics’ accountable.”

“Crisis pregnancy centers have a long history of intentionally misleading women to prevent them from accessing abortion care. Women deserve accurate medical information and Representative Maloney’s bill is a major step forward in protecting women from the misleading, deceptive advertising practices of Crisis Pregnancy Centers,” said Vicki Saporta, President and CEO, National Abortion Federation.
The SDAWS Act directs the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to promulgate rules declaring it an unfair or deceptive act for an entity, such as a crisis pregnancy center, to advertise as a provider of abortion services if the entity does not in fact provide such services. Organizations that are not deceptive in their advertising or marketing will not be impacted by this bill. The bill has 12 cosponsors in the House (Reps. Robert A. Brady, Judy Chu, Gerald E. Connolly, Diana DeGette, Sam Farr, Raul M. Grijalva, Janice Hahn, James P. Moran, Eleanor Holmes Norton, Charles B. Rangel, Janice D. Schakowsky, and Adam B. Schiff) and two in the Senate (Frank R. Lautenberg and Richard Blumenthal).

Why some here continue to defend the Democratic party on this issue is beyond me.

Everyone here should give Scipio a big 👍
👍👍

Absolutely. It’s VERY clear that the Democrats are all about protecting abortion at all costs and even through their OWN very deceptive advertising. I’ve been at CPCs and none of them advertise “abortion services.” They advertise counselling or pregnancy services. Of course they are going to encourage the mother maintain the pregnancy and they will not refer to an abortuary. Yet part of the IRS scandal is an agent demanding a pro life group give abortion referrals as well as adoption or other resources.

There IS an agenda on the Left.

Thanks, my google-fu is strong today! 😃

Perhaps someone will propose a counter bill, for “prohibiting deceptive advertising of abortion services”, which would bar Planned (un)Parenthood and politicians from using the term “reproductive services”, when they mean “killing the unborn”.

Yes did you notice all the doublespeak in the description of the bill and the reasons it was “necessary.” How many times were the words “health care” “reproductive services” “women’s health” used? They must think we are stoooopid.

Love the term Google Fu!

Just got this on FB. VERY interesting article. A “pro choice” doc becomes pro-life. He does share HOW these abortions were done, very graphic and sad. But at the end of his interview, he says that if a woman’s LIFE is in danger he “terminates” the pregnancy by a Caeserian birth. He said abortion is NOT indicated if a woman’s LIFE is in danger. There is not enough time for the process to take place. These are late term abortions btw

I just watched his testimony.

Senators Boxer and Blumenthal, meanwhile are only interested in helping abortion clinics perform more hygienic killings. But as anyone who’s followed the Gosnell trial knows, this is about more than sanitizing murder–it’s about protecting living, breathing children. The idea that these cold-blooded killings are on par with a routine teeth-cleaning is outrageous. How many times have you gone to the dentist and worried about the doctor snipping your spinal cord? As wince-inducing as the descriptions of Gosnell’s office are, liberals want to distract Americans from the real issue here, which is the systematic killing of born-alive and nearly-born babies.

What is wrong with these people? It’s as if they live in a parallel universe. The issue is the killing of human beings, the most helpless and deserving of protection. Sterilizing the scissors used to snip their necks would not change the outcome or the evil.

There is Sooo much denial going on.I can only assume that the sacred"rite"(right) of a woman to murder her baby, trumps any concerñs(outside of hygienic concerns:rolleyes:) that the pro choice crowd has,to the extent they will defend abortion regardless of the evidence,to the end.😦

It does make you wonder if a child is not safe from the murder of the state, who is.
