For the people who have a ministry of some sort in front of Planned Parenthood on abortion days, what do you think would be the most powerful or persuasive thing to say to the woman going in for the abortion if you had just 20 words or less? (30 max) I’m a guy, so it seems more apt to ask women what they think could turn the heart and mind of a woman on the verge of walking through that door.

And do you think a woman has more power to sway another woman than a man does in said circumstance?

I think a woman would be more effective

“God loves you and your baby, no matter what. Something that you may feel is a suffering or struggle may actually be a blessing.” It is simple. It is true. I think telling someone that you are killing a child or any other ugly thing isn’t effective. How many women/girls turned around and went home when someone yelled. “MURDERER!!!” Uh, none.

Just for further insight, are you a woman? (It seems a woman can best answer that specific question.)
I am female. I also see a lot of pro choicers complain about men having opinions about abortion because they will never go through pregnancy and childbirth. (I don’t really agree but that is where some of them are coming from so take that into account)

Having heard from women who have had abortions and regretted them, or felt they were pushed into it, I think reminding them that they DO have other options and still could make another choice could be powerful, especially if you have information handy about a resource center that could offer assistance with arranging prenatal care, diapers and other baby supplies, etc, or even with arranging adoptions if the mother is certain she will not be able to care for her baby.

Since I once was in this position, I would say:

Is 9 months too long to answer the desperate prayers of a couple longing to give your child a future full of love?

If everyone contemplating abortion could feel the sorrow and longing of infertile couples then I think this might become a moot point.

You have a choice.

We can help you with a place for yourself and adoption for your baby.

Yes.

The first thing that comes to mind is a very sincere and very kind: “You don’t have to do this.” I think a lot of women choose abortion because they feel it is their only real option. Maybe emphasizing that there are alternatives would give them pause.

Thankyou. People say all kinds of “interesting” things as they drive by. One women said, “No uterus, no opinion.” which seems a bit overboard to me. Besides that, it is not opinion.

What you say makes sense.

This is great advice, but often it seems like the vast majority don’t care about the adoption possibility. They only want to get ride of the “problem”. I have heard it said that women do it because they often feel that they have no choice.

This seems like an excellent piece of advice. I think it would touch the heart of some women. Thanks.

Everyone’s response so far has been quite enlightening. In certain places abortion has become so common that it hardly seems like any big thing. That’s my impression.

You are not alone.

I believe men need to be in the front line praying too. Women have a heavy burden on their shoulders by the time they make that walk. Many of them are making the decision alone and afraid. Many women have been verbally assaulted by their partner and parents causing them to take that walk alone. Many women don’t feel that they have a help mate to direct them. It is this absence of good men that these women need. Kind, merciful, non-judging, hope giving men to replace the men who have failed them. Men who can take the thrashing of what these women had the courage to say to those who got them into trouble. Men who will restore their faith in mankind and generally help them become vessels of life. Men who can can “Sorry” on behalf of other men.

Personally as a woman, I believe it would be much more comforting to have a woman speak to me about my options (not saying men can’t have opinions, they definitely should, but remember that women are very sensitive when it comes to this issue)

I would say “We care about you and we want you to know that you have a choice, and we would like to offer you an alternative”
or
“I want to help you and your baby get the care that you BOTH deserve”

** Remember not to get too cheesy or “fake” when speaking sincerely.**

That sounds good. To let them know they have other options. Especially if you have any brochures to give them. I didn’t have anyone approach me to argue. We had to stay on the sidewalk and were several hundred feet from Planned Parenthood.

Every person has Jesus inside including your baby.
