A hypothetical scenario;

You have a female acquaintance and you just found out that she had an abortion. This female lives in a state where abortion is illegal. However, the woman lives beside a state that has legalized abortion.

Upon hearing the news, would you rather hear that;

A). The woman sought an illegal back alley abortion.

B). The woman sought a legal abortion in a modern health care facility.

Discuss.

A hypothetical scenario;

You have a friend and you just found out that she had taken a test in her math class.
The friend got none of the answers on the test right.

Upon hearing the news, would you rather hear that;

A). The friend cheated and still got the wrong answers.

B). The friend did not study, and got the wrong answers.

It is nonsensical to try to glean a favoritism of one sin over another, so why do you keep trying?

No preference. I would hope that the mother was in good physical health after the ordeal and that she was granted the wisdom to see what a terrible thing she had done and that she would repent. The hows and wheres of the practice would not cross my mind.

WHAT? :eek:

On a Catholic forum, once again you submit two possible choices, neither of which are acceptable.

Since you have said the woman has already had an abortion, what we would do as Catholics is love her (hate the sin, love the sinner), and offer her help through Rachel’s Vineyard or other post-abortion counseling. We would pray for her and for the little one lost in abortion. If there were situations which could be dealt with (abuse), we would seek to help her deal with those, up to and including any legal sanctions or issues.

Regardless of whether she had a ‘back alley’ or a ‘legal’ abortion, she had the procedure and she is hurting both physically and spiritually, and that is what needs to be considered and dealt with, not some "would you rather she put herself in a supposed ‘more danger’ healthwise though back alley’ or a ‘less dangerous’ healthy abort through a ‘legal’ channel?

The baby winds up dead either way and the poor woman winds up violated and hurt either way.

This off topic. Create your own thread about your hypothetical scenario.

This is the third thread you have posed this question and it has been aswered many times. Of course I would not want them to use a condom. They have rejected my advice not to enage in sex outside of marriage-using a condom merely enforces the myth of safe sex. There are grave consequences , both physical and spirtual, whether they use a condom or not. Of course being you are grounded in the secualar world view that sex has no cosequences as long as you use a condom I am sure you will not understand this.

Right. Now, given that, would you prefer the mother had had the abortion in a clinic or an alley?

Personally, I can’t decide. On one hand, in the clinic she presumably paid for it and the clinic made money off the abortion, some of which might be used to fund adverstising or legislation that would result in more abortions. Icky. In a back alley, the abortion provider would also presumably get paid, encouraging him to perform more abortions in the future, but he isn’t free to advertise or lobby as freely as the legal abortion clinic. On one hand you have less healthrisk to the mother (and the same to the baby) but a liklihood of still more abortions down the road, on the other an increase in danger to the mother. I think I’d need to see a peer-reviwed study on back alley vs clinical abortion safetey to answre. Without that, I have no preference.

I would prefer she didnt have the abortion. If she is intent on killing her chid it is irelevant who she pays to kill her child.

You can’t really have much of a discussion when you orchestrate the questions the way you do. This is a Catholic message forum. Abortion isn’t an option for praticing Catholics at all. So it doesn’t matter one iota where or how she does it, because she shouldn’t be doing it all.

Once again, you are trying to set up false choices between mortal sins. Both are equally as heinous. This is just tiring.

I would rather she not have her baby murdered.

But of those two, I would prefer the back alley. Maybe it would dawn on her the horror she is about to commit, instead of being lulled into some fake sense of this being okay by going to a big “medical” facility that gives the impression this is okay.

Well, if you are going to go counting angels dancing on the heads of pins, don’t forget to factor in that at the “legal” clinic the woman would more likely be pressured into her “choice” while an illegal abortion would be sought out. And of course, “back alley” doesn’t mean unsafe. Even before Roe, most “back alley” abortions were simply abortions performed by perfectly legit doctors in regular offices and clinics but “off the books”.

There is no combination of facts that makes either of these choices one we would “rather” a friend chose, especially since there are so many moral, healthier choices available.

Zatzat:

When you Mother was pregnant with you had she decided to have an abortion would you prefer:

She use the Saline Method?
She use the D&E Method?
She use the Partial Birth Abortion Method?
She Use a Coat hanger?
She allow you to be born and smother you with a pillow?

Back alley. I wouldn’t want medical officials going up to her and assuring her that what she’s doing is okay, that a lot of women do it, that she’s feeling guilty over nothing, et cetera.

The reality of abortion is not the clean medical facility. The reality is the dead baby. I want this woman to see reality…when you have an abortion everything isn’t all rosy and happy. You’re killing somebody.

Abortion is morally repulsive, and if I had my way, I’d outlaw it. However, I’ll take the bait, and say option B, but I’d rather she didn’t get one at all, obviously.

Ditto to your questions.

At this time, in this nation, all States allow abortion.

Next?

Quite the contrary as back alley abortions carry with them a greater risk of harm to the woman. Is the body not a temple?

It’s hypothetical. It’s designed to make people think. It doesn’t even have to be in America…it could be in some other nation state.

One that the woman obviously doesn’t respect since she’s going to kill another person.
