Designed to make people think what?

That no matter that the child always dies, the woman who kills the child should choose the ‘legal’ or ‘safer’ options for her own health?

That we should be ‘rooting’ for the woman to keep her own health in mind at all costs?

Seriously, your questions do not make us ‘think’ the way you wish. Your questions for one make me think you are a very sad, lonely, and empty person who is desperately looking for ‘meaning’ in life. So you think you have found meaning by advocating for an individual to be ‘safe’ to live the ‘best possible life’. Of course, since you personally think that once life is over, you’re ‘zip, gone for good, no more existence of any kind’, you’re still empty inside.

You’re like a little girl going all out to get her Barbie dolls looking their absolute best with the newest and neatest outfits and gadgets. . .and all you do the rest of your life, instead of actually going out and finding a vocation and doing anything for anybody, is stay in the room and look at them. You don’t go on with anything else, you have no other ‘life’, and in the end, when you die, your life is a complete waste. All the time you spent getting your Barbies to look perfect meant nothing because it was a total distraction from the life you should have lived, and could have lived if you had stopped focusing on non-essentials.

But you need to justify yourself and to try to present your point of view as being ‘better’ than any ‘theistic’ type, because if you keep pounding out how much ‘better’ you are, you keep building up your wall and cementing yourself into the view that you really are right.

Just my opinion, of course.

It’s hypothetical. It’s designed to make people think. It doesn’t even have to be in America…it could be in some other nation state.
OK.
You’ve re-defined your terms to “anywhere” not in “a state where abortion is illegal.”
On this Catholic site, you are still chasing phantoms.

A hypothetical scenario;

You have a female acquaintance and you just found out that she had an abortion. This female lives in a state where abortion is illegal. However, the woman lives beside a state that has legalized abortion.

Upon hearing the news, would you rather hear that;

A). The woman sought an illegal back alley abortion.

B). The woman sought a legal abortion in a modern health care facility.

Discuss.
If you heard new that your friend committed murder, would you rather hear that:

A) The person shot an innocent person
B) The person knifed an innocent person

Where is the choice for the child. A) Be torn apart illegally in alley or B) Be torn apart legally in “health care facility”.

These are not choices. What if in one state it is illegal to hire someone to kill your born child, who everyone can hear screaming for help, but in the neighboring state you can hire someone to kill that same child in a “health care facility”. Which would you rather the parent do?

You cannot kill someone! How hard is that for someone to understand. Whether it is legal in one state and illegal in another state, it is still murder.

I would ask the mother not to kill her child. IF she didn’t want the child I would point her to thousands of parents who would more than happy to take him.

The question just seems pointless and doesn’t lend itself to productive conversation. Would you rather be eaten by a shark or a crocodile? You can come up with any number of arguments for each side of this, but in the end they are fruitless when compared to the bigger reality of getting eaten by something with too many teeth. 😃

The question really just reminded me of the Pharisee’s attempting to trick Jesus into Calumny, for which this was one of his responses.

Matthew 12
33. Either make the tree good and its fruit good: or make the tree evil, and its fruit evil. For by the fruit the tree is known.
34. O generation of vipers, how can you speak good things, whereas you are evil? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
35. A good man out of a good treasure bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of an evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
36. But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall render an account for it in the day of judgment.

Quite the contrary as back alley abortions carry with them a greater risk of harm to the woman. Is the body not a temple?
A back alley abortion is nothing more than a propaganda tool used to drum up support for reproductive rights. An abortion in a modern, developed country is going to be safe procedure whether it is performed legally or illegally. The only difference is that the doctor’s office can move the instruments from the back of the office out to the front. catholicnewsagency.com/resource.php?n=887

You’re presenting a false dilemma using a fictitious procedure. There is no way to answer your question as you present it.

Beautiful and brilliant.

Totally relevant to this thread.
A perfect analogy of actions suggested by OP.

How is it off topic?
But how about this?

You hear a woman friend murdered someone.

Would you rather she murdered the person by crossing a border illegally?
Or would you rather she murdered the person right in town?

I’d rather abortion be illegal and there be a serious risk to the person getting the abortion. It might cause even moral relativists who don’t care that they are murdering an innocent baby to think twice in order to preserve their own life. And if the person procures a ‘back alley abortion’ and it kills them, then there is one less murderer in the world and it will serve as a warning to others.

Asking again:

You hear a woman friend murdered someone.

Would you rather she murdered the person by crossing a border illegally to do so?
Or would you rather she murdered the person right in town?

You four year old is playing mathces. Do you:

Allow then to play with the matches with no protection? OR
Do you buy them an asbestos glove so they dont burn their hand?

What is your point with these ridiculous hypothetical questions? We do not live in a hypothetical world living hypothetical lives. The question is entirely useless here. It doesn’t matter the least bit where she has her abortion - at the end of the day a child is dead.
