Hi Jon,

Welcome to CAF! đź‘‹

I would recommend you start a new thread about this, as this one started four years ago and was only “brought to the surface” by a spammer.

I’ll just say this for now: natural family planning, which does involve periodic abstinence when your wife is fertile, fits into God’s plan for marriage quite well and does not involve making it somehow “unhealthy.” The problem is when we, as sinful people, try to distort sex into making it into something it is not to satisfy our own selfish desires.

You can also check out the following books: Holy Sex by Dr. Greg Popcak and Good News About Sex and Marriage by Christopher West . They discuss Catholic teaching about sexuality very well and helped me enormously to understand not just the “what” but also the “why” and a little bit of the “how.” For more information about NFP specifically, you could contact the Couple to Couple League.
Hello… Thank you for that, I will. I was worried I’d appear crude and I’m really not… I’m just worried I’ll end up having lots of children!

Then Catholic convert or not, you still live with the “contraceptive mentality”. Promoting that you are perfectly happy and would have your life no other way also continues to share this mentality with others.
Why? I’m perfectly happy with the relationship the way it is and have no wish to change it or my views of it.

I wondered if anyone had any comments or guidance for me. I’m 26 and my wife is 27, we have 4 children. I’m sure you’ve guessed already but, we don’t use birth control.

I know we could abstain etc but I do think it’s all part of a healthy marriage. The thing is, I’m worried we’ll end up having lots of children!

My wife and I already have all the answers for our friends who use various forms of contraception… But, inside I kind of agree with them.
Know what you mean, and been there and done that… ABC can really mess up a relationship… Check into self control and NFP, you won’t be sorry. Statistics don’t lie.

I will try to answer in simpler terms that are not so run aroundish.

oral sex anal sex, etc are all fine, BUT HAVE to be used AS FOREPLY ONLY, when the man reaches climax He must do so inside the vagina,
now if i am reading your responses correctly you may be wondering if say the man was to finish first can you “finish” the woman after that, this question was addressed in the appologetics area and the answer to that is most definite yes,
I almost hate to bring this up, as there seem to be a number of locked threads on it and its obviously controversial, but is there a solid opinion on whether its acceptable to bring the woman into climax “manually” and then penetrate to male completion? My wife has asked me to do that, as she has a hard time climaxing in general, but I don’t know the answer to the question.

Or is there a definitive answer, and a person should err on the side of caution?

You will have to start another thread. This one is originally from 2007, 6 years ago, and I have reported to the mods that it’s been opened up again.
