Sorry to all if I have been uncharitable here or gone off half cocked. I try very hard to stay on topic, but sometimes one topic is because of another.
Actually Deb your response is not half cocked or uncharitable
and you know how I truely feel about the whole thing, Yes I have made it appear i am feeling differently but the difference is with how people are responding,
you have always answered questions I have posted with as much explanation as possible, what I was trying to bring out in my responses was that Just because some people use ABC it dont make them less open to life than someone using NFP for the same reasons, many here feel that because they use NFP they are exceptionally fine, NFP can and is abused by many you know it as well as I,
as far as the priests go they see ,hear and deal with things everyday, you know as well as I do I have difficulties expressing things in print as they should be,
after rereading my post I should have stated that they say many of the participants of NFP that get divorced claim that is the reason, if i could still edit that post to correct I would.
I see it as a cop out when you try to blame any one thing for a divorce,
I am divorced after 18 and a half years of marriage, I could easily blame my exs drug problem and lack of faithfulness and constant lieing on the divorce but it took much more than that, and although many divorced people wont admit to it I am as much at fault as my ex, I put that in the original divorce papers and also on the nullity papers as well, it was 50/50 just like everything else.
the real blame for the divorce and I say its the same thing with almost all divorces is communication breakdowns/failures.
Now back to the original things here I have used NFP, and ABC in my life as well as nothing at all, all with the same success rate.
I truely believe God will not ever give you more than you can handle, It was one of the first things I was taught when I started the RCIA program, and I think it was also once I grasped it the thing that made the biggest difference in my life,
Yes I get depressed have been so esspecially the past several months thats a whole other story in itself but I have handled it
hence that never being given more than you can handle thing!
I guess my biggest pet peeve about nfp right now is I know 2 couples that use NFP because they say its within “Church teaching” to use" neither couple wants kids they detest them,
then they come right back and talk about how great they are because they are open to life, then will add that if they get pregnant they would have an abortion, thats not open to life.
thats sidetracking, and it really struck a nerve with me.and got me seeing how the Church teaches use of NFP on a more daily basis, how others advertise its use, then when getting on here and I see people talking about it and using the same wordings yet cannot or will not explain how they get to that opinion, I know its only because its how they were told, they do not truely see what the term “open to life” really means, I know many people using NFP because of medical reasons, yet they would love to have a child, these people are truely open to life yet are being denied for reasons beyond our understanding,
thats why I state many of the things I do about NFP not being open to life, Many people are so particular about the accuracy of charting ,temps, discharge because they do NOT want in any way shape or form what they term as an unwanted pregnancy,
My belief is this in short, if you have relations with your wife ( i am a man) or if your a woman and you have relations willingly with your husband, then you should relize that each and every single time you do you are getting pregnant,( dont count obvioulsy if already pregnant) and you do so with that knowledge then you are open to life even if a pregnancy does not happen.
therefore there should be no such thing as an unwanted pregnancy or a “boo boo” or a “failure”
I hope that makes a lil more sense now!!
