- does it have the real presence?
- Does it have valid apostolic succession?
if it has both of these, how is it not catholic?
Wouldn’t the presence and succession mean its part of the catholic church?
From what I understand, the Catholic Church recognizes the validity of Orthodox sacraments and practices. We’re the second lung, right?

We believe the Roman Catholic Church is schismatic.Orthodox Churches are schismatic
Most Orthodox do not accept this branch theory. But if you must use this analogy, why are we stuck with the left lung?..that is where the goats are!!!orthodox churches are the left lung, and Roman Catholic Church is the right lung, breathing in the spirit of God, and sending ‘oxygen’ to the whole world.
Thank you.I think the main point is that the two-lung theory is accepted by the CC but not the OC. The Catholic church recognizes the validity of Orthodox beliefs and sacraments (almost completely) but not the other way around.
And in any case, a little joke can’t hurt![]()
Congratulations on your new status as forum master! You are correct. I will bow out.
We are basically the same Church, the differences being more complimentery than diversive. I believe today we have misunderstood the concept of East and West. That is we have missed the point of being Catholic and Orthodox. I truly believe we have entered into too many misconceptions and misunderstandings of each other what truly is the West and the East. I am in the process of writing a book on these issues. I was concern about why each Church sees each other as seperate from each other. I read too many books explaining this and I got tired of it. There must be another way or angle we are not addressing. It is from this perspective that I thought why cannot both be right. Why cannot both be the Church. What is it that makes the West Catholic and the East Orthodox? Why did God devised it this way? Why then 2 seemingly seperate individuals one in the West and one in the East both claiming to be the Church. I decided to meditate and to do research on this. Some of my conclusions are thus. We were not together in the beginning as we first taught. How could we? First of all was the language barrier. One spoke Latin and the other Greek. Geographically we were too apart literaly to even to know each other. People did not travel then as they do now. I summerized that these 2 Churches grew independantly from one another. They both contain within themselves the same Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit helped to formed them to what you see today. The Church of Rome was formed differently that the Orthodox Church but both had the same Teacher and Builder, the Holy Spirit. From these Churches we see that the Holy Spirit guided them both into the same Sacramental way of life. While this been said we see that these Churches have developed different angles when approaching the Teachings and Doctrines they both have within themselves. I developed a theory that our 2 respective Churches were so designed this way so that later on when God will give it we will be able to enjoy the benefits of each other. It is like this. When you first meet with your wife you did not know her when she was young. During the years of her growth you too were growing and developing. When the moment God decides for you to meet her, both of you have matured enough for that to happen. It is the same for our 2 Churches. We are only now discovering each other. In time we will discover that the other will be just as important to us as we are to that other. If you will permit me to use this word we are into what you will call " the engagement " period of our 2 respective Churches. During this " romance " we will discover each other and then enter into a relationship that God attended for us to be in. I honestly believe that we are entering the greatest moments of our 2 Churches lives where we will enter finally into a long lasting relationship. I believe mistakes in the past caused mostly by bishops are small in comparison to the developements that will be occuring soon, even as they are now. My book will show a triangle with the bottom been the widest and the 2 lines from each side climbing up closer and closer together. We started out like the bottom of that triangle. In time while the 2 sides are climbing up they are emerging closer together and eventually they will meet and stay together. Our 2 Churches needed to grow independantly of each other, growing to that maturity they have entered and after maturity finally togetherness. Much like a marriage.

Wow! I didn’t even notice. I don’t know whether to smile or cry.Congratulations on your new status as forum master!
Okay, compromise. Two nice battleships (for EO and CC) and a tugboat for the OOs (if you insist)But enough of that, on to the important stuff: What part of the body do the Oriental Orthodox get? Do they have to occupy a different organ entirely due to their different Christological conception that is not shared among you and the Chalcedonian Orthodox? There are less of them than the Chalcedonians…does that mean they get a smaller organ? A kidney? Maybe both kidneys? It could be rather cave-like in there, in comparison to the more spacious lungs (that’s right, Greeks and Russians! You don’t know how good you have it! Quit your complaining! закрыть!). That could be good…the Ethiopians are used to it, as are the Egyptians…they could set up a nice monastery…“Deir al-Kilwy”…)
I assumed that it gives you new powers.Wow! I didn’t even notice. I don’t know whether to smile or cry.![]()
