Hi everyone!

I’m here because I was searching for Chick Publications on the internet and I ended up in this website reading a research that tries to discredit his work. Then I found myself wondering why did someone write a very very extensive research not thinking about the real facts I mean results of Jack’s work but in the mental parameters that we all have (this time I want to exclude me in this last phrase since I was taught the same like you but I did not find a way on that)

What I want to say is: Are you sure you have the truth about Jack? I want to tell you this: God changed my life (He is still doing it indeed) and I’m within this group that have been changed and many have been touched by God with Jack’s Work and it’s just one of many ways God uses to change people’s life. I’m talking about the real change of life not about the religious stuff because as I said before I was taught in this Catholic way, and I can say for sure, that I did not find God into that.

I was dead, I’m alive now. God made me a brand new person without using “the system” cause this system did nothing on me, and I guess it does nothing but keep people controlled with some patterns (orders, laws, God doesn’t like this or this and that kind of things)

When I first read a tract of Jack T. Chick, I thought “this guy has a very cool way to offer the truth to the people” and I can say that this booklets work in a very powerfull way because they are full of God’s way of think and act and not Chick’s way of think or act.

The message always goes to where it has to go: To the broken heart, to someone who needs to change his/her. Of course Jesuschrist is there using his power.

I don’t want to use a very very extensive research to prove this (I can do it), bacause I didn’t need that to believe in God, I only needed another chance from Him. I didn’t need any religious stuff to change my life (repeating this-stressing on this).

I have to say: I’m not with the system but I have to respect it however I can express that I’m against it of course, just like Jack does.

We can talk about this, using “Paper” of course (the Bible and your ver, beause I use Spanish Reina-Valera or King James ver) to refute this.

God bless you all! 👍

Quite sure. I found a Jack Chick track placed at an ATM machine not to long ago. It contained many false statements about what Catholics actually believe and what the church actually teaches. How can this man’s teachings come from God, if he spreads false information? God using lies to convert people? I think not.

God Bless!

I agree. 😦

Nope, sorry. Jack Chick is a messenger of hate and retribution.

he hates catholics? i have seen some of his things before and they always seem very smart and better than regular comics like in the paper.

JackChick is a horrible racist (among other awful things) and his tracts do nothing but spread hate. TEXT DELETED

Jack Chick isn’t just anti-Catholic, he is anti-social. Most protestants even find him offensive. He makes converts to his cold hearted cultish view of christianity by lying and slandering.

Would Christ lie to convert people? I think not. Would Christ misrepresent people’s beliefs, mock them, slander them in gravely sacraligous ways?

Jack Chick is demented and needs to find Christ himself.

Well, it’s the other way around for me. I was a Protestant who grew up thinking there was nothing wrong with Chick tracts. My parents didn’t know about them, but I remember seeing them lying around in my church, and I always enjoyed reading them.

I was dead then…but I’m alive now. Funny how things work out in the opposite direction for some.

Anyway, I think Jack Chick was a great artist who used his talent in an entertaining, and attention-grabbing way to introduce people to an enticing way out of life’s problems. Fall on your knees, accept/profess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and boom. You’re saved, and so are your problems.

The only thing is that he was horribly misguided (both with his “facts” and with his mentality), and let’s face it…hateful. I don’t know how any of his lies or conspiracy theories about the Catholic Church would cause any Catholic who is even somewhat informed about his/her religion to renounce it.

Read this: catholic.com/library/sr_chick_tracts_p1.asp
It is interesting. Jack Chick, on top of everything else bad may not even be that good of an artist. He is paying someone else to draw, but he keeps his name on the pictures.
I don’t want to discourage these comics if they are promoting Christ. But why do they spend so much energy against His Church?

He’s a bad artist (or whoever he gets to draw them is) and he is a really bad writer. His plots are simplistic, and his dialouge is hammy at best. TEXT DELETED

Wow…well, I just read “Are Roman Catholics Christians?” for the first time on the chick website, and I have to admit some of the claims in there are pretty unsettling. I never read a full anti-catholic chick tract. I’ve just seen sparse panels, and whole comics dealing with other subjects.

I’m going to have to further look into some of this stuff. With all due respect to the catholic.com page, it doesn’t really answer any of Chick’s charges against the Catholic Church. It mostly just attacks his credibility.

I’m worried.

You’re kidding, right?

Chick’s credibility is attaced because he blatantly misrepresents Catholic teaching. I haven’t read the death cookie thing in a while but I remember, even before I became Catholic, I saw right through it.

I see you’ve been exploring the Faith via the Baptist route. For what it’s worth, it is highly likely that you have arrived on our doorstep with a lot of erroneous notions about Catholicism, and Chick has rekindled your doubts.

Trust me, Chick has some REALLY bizarre notions about what the Catholic Church teaches.

Nothing compared to his views of people who play RPGs. I wonder when I learned black magic?

Sea Oat: You must admit Catholic.com has quite a job on its hands defending such an attacked Church, and promoting One Truth in an age of thousands of truths.
I’m sure the least of all apologists on this site could explain how none of these calims can make us not Christian. But even if we does fall short of refuting his claims, where does your faith pick up the slack man? I am going to copy and paste something I wrote to another constant listener of doubt-mongers, because I say the same to you. Nohome is his screen name. He is a very considerate guy, and a great contributor to this forum from what I have read.

Nohome, you remind me of my friend William who always asks me my response to controversial Catholic things (is there any other kind?) Sometimes I answer him eagerly, because some of the stuff I’ve already come to terms with myself. Other times I am thankfull of him for making me think about something I normaly wouldn’t. Still other times I look at him with disgust and ask him “Will you ever be the one helping me with my faith, or are you content to live off of me?” I yell out in my head like Paul Newman in Cool Hand Luke “Stop feeding off of me!” There will come a day when there are no Lukes in your life.
Speaking of life, life is like C.S. Lewis’ “Magician’s Nephew” when the boy finds himself in a world full of mysterious pools, ponds and lakes. There were many pools in there that seemed worthy of looking at, and they all had there apeal. The grass was also soft, and the air pure.
There you are Mr. Nohome. You have come upon the place of many pools, and using your intelect, feelings and reasoning you have determined you are comfortable sitting with your feet in the water. Nobody from below the pool’s surface can tell you that you aren’t, only bubbles come out. And anyway, you are comfortable. Little do you know, you can’t take your feet out if you tried. That’s why your on this site. You’ve been baptised Catholic. that’s forever. You married a Catholic. That’s forever.
When you got married, you partook in just one of God’s gifts to us. You got your feet wet in the unnkown, and it sounds like its been pretty great. You took a chance that no piranahs would bite your toes off. Now your looking deeper into the pool and though you can’t see the bottom, you can see some pretty big fish in there, and even some humans swimming around. A few of them (your wife, your kids, and us) turn and wave to you.
Buck up buddy and jump into the deepest pool of faith their is: the Catholic Church. There is no bottom to it that we can reach on this earth. Jesus made it that way, so that we’d keep swimming and learning to rely on Him for breath, until he wishes for us to be with Him in the heaven on the other side. Protestant ponds are deep indeed. But they have a bottom. Trust me, I’ve seen people reach it.
There are a million reasons why you shouldn’t jump in. In fact, you are encouraged in the fact that you see some Catholics just swimming around on the surface and that they are seemingly happy.
Maybe your kids are doggy paddling waiting for you to come in. Teach them to drown in mystery but breath in Jesus. Maybe some are already too deep for you to see them.
I think I just saw a Protestant jump in. Man, he just swam below me.

No, sadly, I wasn’t kidding.

You’re right, though…some of those comics have hit “weak spots” of mine, or, like you said, rekindled some of my doubts tonight. I see a lot of the laughable stuff the catholic answers page pointed out (vatican keeping track of protestants, catholics responsible for the assassination of Lincoln, etc.), but I also see some worrisome things.

But then again, what else is new. I’m bombarded with doubts almost everyday, it seems. I’ll just have to pray, and ask my RCIA director or one of the Priests about some of those points to be sure.

I didn’t mean to demean the Catholic Answers pages, or to imply that I believed that Catholics aren’t Christians, as that claim would be utterly ridiculous. I just saw certain issues brought up in the comics that were always a little troublesome to me, and couldn’t find the specific refutations…although I know the apologists here would be more than capable of addressing those issues.

Thank you for the copy of the post you wrote to Nohome, though… I’ll further reflect on it and respond in the morning…my brain is a little fried right now, and I have to be up in a few hours.

Hello Rick-Xto,

I would advise you to steer well clear of Jack Chick and his “teachings”. His work is completely anti-catholic and therefore anti-Christian.

I recently went into a church and found several of Chick’s booklets
hidden inside all the books which related to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
These booklets denied all the Church’s teaching such as Mary’s being the Mother of God, her immaculate conception, her perpetual virginity, her sinlessness and freedom from original sin.

The devil must be very proud of him!

God bless,
Noel.

I think to most of us Chick seems so laughably strange and hateful that it is difficult to imagine anyone being influenced by him. If he put doubts in your mind start a thread on that specific doubt. I can’t think of anything that he has ever written that isn’t easily refuted. Doesn’t he believe that Catholics are responsible for the holocaust?

Dear Rick Xto,
I really pray that God will lead you back to the Church. Many of my friends were and are like you- they just “follow the system” (say the rosary, attend mass, etc.) more out of obligation or because that’s how they were taught. But when you come to really understand the faith, you’ll realise its a beautiful gift from God Himself. When I was young, my father brought several Chick tracts and for the next few years I believed everything written in them UNTIL I began to read about his claims and realised that the Church had a much better claim to the original faith than he had. I would encourage you to read more about the catholic faith, both on this site and others like it.

Praying for you, AJV
