In an interview with Deutsche Welle, Archbishop Gänswein remarked that in his document summarizing the work of the Synod on the Family, the Pope will undoubtedly address the question of pastoral care for the divorced and remarried. This is a difficult question, he said, but it is “not the first time” a Pope has addressed it. (The German prelate was evidently referring to the work of Pope Benedict XVI, for whom Archbishop Gänswein has served as private secretary.) He said that he was fully confident Pope Francis “will continue on the path of his predecessors.”
