Yes, of course must the convincement of these precise words to history be accepted and honoured. No doubt about that.
However; knowing there where not two histories – a biblical and a historic one, but the one and only we all had, we still should trust both; the scientifically proven and the biblical one. So, one or the other story is bound to be allegory, just as one or the other scientifically proven, is absolutely wrong. Hardly anyone would insist, the world had been created within 7 Days, as there was no day before sun and universe was created. A “day” the Genesis describes, might well be a million years, just as well as a second. What’s a day in heaven anyway? Jesus Himself told us parables or similes. because we simply wouldn’t understand otherwise.
Though I consider myself a totally convinced Catholic, I consider such details and the supposition of Genesis in a literal manner, as a „not necessary postulate“ for living in the word of God. Knowing it was the pre Stone-Age we are talking about, and the oldest town we know of was Jericho – on the other hand not knowing what in pre-Jericho-days was called a town (might be some huts?), I dare to doubt the very word and rather take it as RIGHT HONORABLE TRUE SYMBOL. Much of our language would to an alien be a lie (take “it rained cats and dogs”) but we all understand rightly. Furthermore it was not common to have just one wife, but many (so even described in the bible) and it is believed that there rather was a matriarchy, where things look a little different.

But what use is it to argue about a thing or time, we know so little about, and we will see anyhow one day.
It doesn’t change a single thing in our trust in God; in our real believe in God, nor in our relationship to God. That’s why I would not consider suchlike questions as really important. We’d never argue about the Holy Trinity, because we won’t ever understand it. Still we believe in it of course. Alike I’d never argue about Genesis, and rather accept in a very respecting way, anyone’s point of view, for I don’t think it matters to our relationship to God, who’s right.

I was reading an article by Parker Palmer for my Freshman Composition class. One of the issues he talked about in this piece was the idea of absoulte truth and relative truth. He believes that since we can never know things for sure, truth is just the process by which we communicate with one another, initiate in dialouge, have conflicts, and come to a greater understanding about things…
It’s common in the last few years to make an argument by first stating that there are no known facts. This works well for the uneducated because if they get you to accept that premise then they aren’t actually required to know or have studied anything. This mentality appeals mostly to young people. You’ll find that some people take it a step further and refute even basic logical relationships.

If someone wonders whether or not there are any truths then just tell them it is true they will die if they jump off a 10 story building. If they doubt the truth of that they can go try it easy enough. That’s called the thinning of the gene pool. 🙂

with a slight touch of sarcasm 😃 but true.
Mentioning that 10 story building:
In our papers of last weekend, there was a report of a small child, falling off such – it was a 10 meters deep fall. The child was unhurt, not mentioning a few scratches.
Today we have the similar case in the papers, a 3 ½ years old fell according to AP-Press, nearby Kaiserslautern 8 meters deep off the balcony. The child is unhurt, he or she fell on a table in the garden where people sat with guests.
The world takes a swift notice of these worldwide repeating happenings, but does not accept that there very obviously is the hand of God in this and the Angel of this child.
Just as Abraham said:
They wouldn’t believe even when the dead arouse from their graves. But some of them are not allowed to believe: Mt 13,15, Mk 4,12, Joh 12,40

**Hey friends and relatives, no replie?
In fact the Bible - in this case the New Testament, is the most exiting book we have. Very few page only - about 250 - the worlds talk for 2000 Years about it, and won’t find and end, before she sees. We all will see!
We should find some more word’s about it - shouldn’t we.
The fact that God is real for everyone, even those who deny this fact because they fear the truth, is no real question. The question ought to be: How can I bypass the reality of God, and simply fade away when I die, - just as a a daisy.😊

That’s what my “bed-neighbour” in hospital believed; no matter what I told him. “We’ll fade away just like a daisy one day” he said. There was no believe at all in him, and many think so.
The whole bible – which they hardly know and refuse ever to read with spirit, means nothing to them and as they assure and believe; it’s “human-made”.

If that were so, there were many very different bibles – as the Holy Bible is the worlds # 1 bestseller. But there is only one, telling the very same verses; ok, in differing expression, but all referring to the original text, which the world knows to be the right one.

Hit any page of the New Testament: If openhearted read, it strikes you and changes your life – or holds you on the right track, and heals soals. No other book of the world is able to do so, as it’s not written or “invented” by man, but inspired and monitored by the Holy Spirit himself.

Yes, God is the one and only Absolute Truth, and God is real for everyone, if he believes it or not – he will see!
