You did say she was Catholic, though it sounds like it’s just nominally if she is willing to use BC, for you to use it anyway.

Caveat being that there are priests who say it’s okay to use BC even though it isn’t.

I know that. Unfortunately I think there are many people who believe that if a priest or bishop tells you it’s okay then you are free and clear. Between the people who refuse to obey and the people who erroneously believe a priest can give some sort of dispensation we, unfortunately, have a lot of Catholics using birth control.

My priest told me that the former archbishop of our archdiocese had ordered all the priests not to talk about birth control at all and if someone brought it up in confession to tell the person it wasn’t an issue. Fortunately he’s passed on and the new archbishop is nothing like that. My priest refused but for him it wasn’t much of an issue due to his saying masses in retirement homes.

You are the religious leader of your family. It is important to keep communication open with your wife. I suggest you start praying together. Never underestimate the power of prayer to change hearts.
You stay firm but be understanding. Make it clear you are giving up sex so the you both can get to heaven! Prayers coming your way! 🙏🙏🙏
