Abuse victims at Comboni seminary demand apology

A group of men has called on the Comboni Fathers to acknowledge and apologise for decades of abuse they allege took place at the order’s junior seminary in Yorkshire…
… this week sent a 157-page report detailing more than 1,000 instances of abuse to the archbishops of England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland.

…In an accompanying letter Mr Hennessy said that priests and Religious had failed in their task, abandoned their mission and the spirituality of the Gospels by refusing properly to acknowledge and validate their pain and suffering.

If the church fails to be a beacon for the world on matters of holiness, mercy, integrity, morality, righteousness, forgiveness, doctrinal truth, etc. how can they speak with any clarity concerning moral authority without looking hypocritical and false for the egregious sins that have occurred within Her walls.

To the secular world which is worse, abortion or pedophilia? I don’t know but its has been going on for some 30 decades now. When will it stop? To have a secular (pagan) govt. watchdog to oversee church functions with regards to child abuse issues because they feel their oversight is more righteous and able with greater integrity and compasssion to protect rights of children from clerical abuse smacks the face of morality within the clerical system. Perhaps this is why the world is turned off to Christianity and why many are leaving Christianity around the world especially in western civilization.
