Great ideas! Thanks for posting.

Here in Utah, Friday night is date-night for Mormons and I have picked up a few cheap date ideas.

Walk through IKEA and eat dinner in their cafe (very inexpensive dinners) or at their snack bar by the exit (hot dogs and pizza slices for a couple of bucks).

Walk through Costco and enjoy free samples and browse the items in the store.

Go the park (we have great parks here in Utah!) and have a picnic, take a walk or meet up with friends.

My favorite cheap thing to do: get a cup of my favorite coffee or some other treat and drive through different neighborhoods and look at homes. Not too fun for husband but I love it! 😛

My wife and I would go to Barnes & Noble, grab a cup of coffee and read/talk for an hour or two. This started when I was in school and we didn’t have any money, but we still do it sometimes just to get out of the house and spend some “non IPAD” time together:D.

Gambling casinos often have free live music and offer free coffee and pop. I have stopped at the casino several times to listen to music, sip a beverage, and have not spent a dime.

Around here in the summers a lot of local business districts will have weekend evening events with live music. DH and I like to go to those. Lots of parks also host free movie nights. Some of them are geared toward kids (also fun for a family activity) but not all of them are.

If you live near a large city in particular there is tons of fun free stuff to do if you keep your eyes peeled.

Is there a reason “(For Married Couples)” was added to the title of this thread? Are doing puzzles, going geocaching, talking about church, driving a sports car and eating chips and salsa things that you need to be married to do? Sure, the article says “Though these are primarily aimed at married couples, a good deal of these can easily apply to you dating Catholics,” but other than “put the kids to bed early” there isn’t really anything else that indicates that the relationship involved needs to be anything more than platonic friends, much less a married couple.

I can’t wait until my kids are old enough to be fed and sent to their rooms unattended, give me about 5 or 6 years I guess. Until then, it’s babysitters for us if we want a date night.

Fun sounding stuff though! I see PP point though, it’s really just fun ideas for couples, not necessarily married couples, and most of the stuff I could do with a friend or family just as well. Board games and wine? Sounds like a perfect sisters night…Great list for all purposes!

If dad can handle bedtime, babysitting swaps are great for date nights out (you babysit for a friend and then they babysit for you).

Our kids are usually in bed asleep by 8:30, and I go to bed between 9:30 and 10. Still plenty of time for “couple time.” The other night we played cards, which we haven’t done in ages, and had a blast.

Nope, not really. Dad can sort of handle bedtime for the older one, who goes to bed at 7:30 (takes an hour to go to sleep, so not done until 8:30), but he prefers nursing before bed so it is usually me. The 2 month old usually cluster feeds until bedtime for me, and then nurses to sleep with me. In fact, the 2 month old is usually the reason dad has to sub in for me to get the 2 year old to sleep, as she won’t be happy without me in the evenings long enough to get the older one to sleep. And she refuses a bottle. Yep. I’m lucky if I get a shower after the older one goes to bed, no “couple time”!

Ah, yes, with a newborn it’s always different. We usually do dates with the baby for quite a while. 🙂
