Accra archbishop says Obama’s visit ‘took Ghana by storm’

WASHINGTON (CNS) – Archbishop Gabriel Palmer-Buckle of Accra, Ghana, praised U.S. President Barack Obama’s July 10-11 visit to his country, telling Catholic News Service “it was glorious” and the president’s visit “took Ghana by storm.”

“Seeing President Barack Obama added to our euphoria, and he was greeted in the traditional Ghanaian way, with song and dance,” the archbishop told CNS in a telephone interview July 13, two days after the president left Ghana.

The archbishop said though he and many Ghanaians celebrated Obama’s election as president seeing him in person and hearing him speak was an incomparable experience.*

Remember that to much of the world, Obama is significant as the first black US president. People don’t know so much about his views on particular topics like abortion.

Really? What could possibly lead you to believe that?
 
You know that abortion is illegal in most African countries? I’m sure if the issue was so important to them (even to the Accra archbishop) they would already know. The difference is that African Catholics (who are better catechized in general,* in my opinion*) understand the nature of sin, and that a law banning abortion (which still happens in Africa with dire consequences) does not remove the culpability of a woman who even thinks about getting it done.

From reading the international mainstream media. They portray him as “the first black US president”, as a good speaker, caring for the poor, being more friendly to other countries, etc. They don’t often mention abortion.

Perhaps they are mostly unaware of his disgusting position on abortion?
