Hi Jharek,

His portrayal of Batman in the TV series of the 60’s was meant to be kind of ā€œcampy,ā€ as we say. šŸ™‚

We watch the re-runs that are in syndication on TV here.

Yes, certainly they were made for escapist television. I predate Batman in that my boyhood television hero was Superman!

May his soul rest in peace.

There is also a train of thought that the Batman show was a thinly veiled attempt at spoofing television and the censors of the time. Remembering watching the shows when I was in college, we had several discussions in philosophy and English lit and theater classes about some of the content having subliminal behavioral suggestions.

My :twocents:

This week has officially sucked, then. I know it was just a matter of time, because he’s really old…but it still sucks.

It gets worse the older you get. At my age, there are very few people still around that I would consider the generation before me. The way I look at it, first it is a good day if it isn’t my name in the obituaries, and secondly, in a way I look forward to moving on. Hope all the old gang is there. Maybe play baseball with Mickey Mantle and Yogi Berra, a round of golf with Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer, listen to a concert with Sinatra, Davis and Martin, then Elvis, George Michael and most of the old Motown groups, Lou Rawls and Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Brothers. Maybe get a pick up b-ball game with Wilt Chamberlain, Pete Maravich, and Bob Cousy. Heck, the more I type this, the more I’m looking forward to it !!! :heaven:šŸŽ‰:hug3:

My sisters & I watched Batman religiously when it was on. We thought it was funny, but were too young to get some of the humor.

Weird coincidence - just the day before he died we watched ā€œReturn to the Batcave: The Misadventures of Adam and Burt.ā€ Made in 2003 - husband & I found it to be very funny.

Rest in Peace, Mr. West.

Gotham City will never be the same. :sad_bye: We watched the show every Tuesday and Wednesday night. The nuns got fed up and sent a note home to the parents asking them not to let the children watch, because the boys in school would imitate the fight scenes during recess and lunch. POW! BAM! WHAM!

RIP Adam West, by all accounts a kind and gracious man, and the Batman forever!
:signofcross:

I interviewed him years ago and he was handsome, charming and funny…he had a tough time of things for a decade after being typecast as the Caped Crusader but was very grateful to get back into work later in his career. He seemed a very nice man…

Yes, may he rest in peace.

I didn’t even know about that movie from 2003, Bonnie. šŸ™‚

I’ll have to see if my husband is aware of it.

He is a huge Adam West fan, and he is very saddened to hear of his death, too. 😦

We were both young kids when the original Batman TV program was on the air in the 60’s. It was one of his favorite TV programs when he was growing up, as well.

The week before we had watched the old Maverick episode (1959) that Adam West guest starred in. That reminded me of Return to the Batcave, which we first saw a few years ago.

Requiem aeternam dona eum et lux perpetua luceat eum. Requiescat in pace. Amen.
