David, as others have advised you on your previous threads, please speak with your regular confessor about scrupulosity. You will drive yourself crazy worrying over these things.

The Hebrew bible includes more than 600 commandments…Jesus boiled it down to 2:

• The Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
• 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[c] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself”

So instead of worrying about what you eat answer this…if you are to love the Lord your God with ALL your heart, and will ALL your soul, and with ALL your mind how can you ALSO love your neighbor as yourself?
 
It is not what goes into a man that defiles him, but what comes out.
 
When I’m cooking a steak to perfection on my grill, I am not offering it up to idols, are you? If not, then enjoy your rare steak without fear.

Quite right. Scrupulosity can become the sin, if it is not recognized and avoided or controlled. Therefore, it is extremely important to have a regular confessor who will assist in this regard.
 
I think the fear of e.coli should be your #1 motivation not to eat rare steak. While a lot of biblical commandments are for the good of our soul, sometimes it was a simplistic way prior to modern science God is also protecting our bodies. After all, God redeemed us body and soul, not just soul. So eating blood may be more than just a “superstitious thing of the First Century.”

Definitely other Apostolic Churches have held this commandment beyond the First Century. The Council of Trullo for the Eastern Churches have upheld this commandment as late as the 7th century.

You will be pleased to hear that this prohibition was overruled by the Council. In those goofy pre-Conciliar times, it might have held; but the Council Fathers interpreted this directive as being based on ecumenical considerations: it was “suited to that time when a single church was rising from Jews and gentiles, who previously lived with different ceremonies and customs,” and only existed so that “a cause of dissension might be removed, since by ancient custom blood and strangled things seemed abominable to Jews.” And thus in modern times, they explained, “since the cause of that apostolic prohibition has ceased, so its effect has ceased.” Therefore in these post-Conciliar times the current rule is:
It [sc. the Church] condemns, then, no kind of food that human society accepts and nobody at all neither man nor woman, should make a distinction between animals, no matter how they died . . . .
In other words, as the Council makes clear, sometimes these silly prohibitions based only on tradition and the Bible need updating (aggiornamento) to keep pace with what “human society accepts” nowadays.

Incidentally, I may have forgotten to say which Council I was talking about: it was Florence, 1442.

Well I’m Armenian and every year the Apostolic Church here has a feast and they sell keyma, which is just raw meat with some parsley on a piece of cracker bread.
 
Well I do see a confessor regularly, but sometimes I get so worked up I keep asking myself “what if he is wrong?”
 
Maybe not. See this:

1 Co 10:25 Eat anything sold in the meat market without raising questions of conscience,

*1 Timothy 4:1-5
1 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. 3 They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. 4 For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5 because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer. *

In Old Testament, there are forbidden meats but some are allowed like beef.
 
Sorry. Rare steak is different since it’s somewhat uncooked and must’ve blood. I’m impulsive.
 
Okay… If no one else is going to say it I will. This really shouldn’t be an issue since we receive the body and blood of our Lord in communion. That was satirical in case it’s not obvious. God bless.

No,whether a steak is rare or not is not related to the question of blood.

The Jews would first bleed the animal out (cutting its throat so the internal blood would run out onto the ground). Only animals killed in this way could be eaten. Of course if an animal had been strangled, its blood would remain inside it and it couldn’t be eaten.

It is still the custom today to bleed the animal out before butchering it.

Did the Christians of the First Century then not receive the body and blood of our Lord?
