I never said that Catholics do nothing to fight injustice. Catholic hospitals do more for AIDS than any other group. I WAS saying that it is a silly waste of time getting one’s panties all tied up over a Doritos commercial that isn’t even aimed at Catholics in the first place. It’s just a way for people to feel morally superior with little or no effort. Also, I was joking about the child abuse statistics. It was sarcasm. But seriously, no child anywhere has been abused since that powerful and effective Facebook campaign. To say Catholics do nothing to fight against ethical causes and don’t put any energy into affecting any sort of change is totally off base. I could fill pages with people and organizations of our faith as with other Christian faiths that have done just that. As far as your assumption that there has been no child abuse since some absurd Facebook request to change avatars to cartoon characters is typical of someone who just sits at home expecting results from some feeble Facebook effort, and believes it makes real change. Where are your facts for saying that no child has been abused since this? Get out in the communities and talk to the Catholics and all people who work on a daily basis with the abused; women, children and elderly and tell them that you silly notion worked! Perhaps it brings awareness but it didn’t stop it!
