We continue to have service men and women fighting in Afghanistan and parts of Syria. Not to mention those who still are in Iraq.
Now the chicken hawks in Washington, D.C., seem to be planning a war against Iran. And maybe sending troops to Venezuela.
When it comes to solving problems like health issues, infrastructure repair, education, benefits for veterans, tax relief for the working class, there never seems to be enough money.
But when it comes to going to war and giving tax cuts to the wealthy in this country, there is an unlimited budget.
What is with that?

I just don’t want to see my grandsons die is some God-forsaken place just for the sake of some Neo-Con in Washington or New York. People who have served in the military understand. Most of the policy makers have never served in the military. They make policy and let other people do the fighting.

It’s the American way. 225 of the US’s 243 years have been spent at war (declared or per the modern euphemistic BS to avoid declaring officially).

This is what happens when chicken hawks get to set foreign policy.
They are hawkish when it comes to taking our country to war, but chicken when it comes to serving in the military.

I understand what you mean. As someone who lives in the Middle East, I also don’t like it when foreign countries fund wars that destabilize the area, but in some cases it’s unfortunately necessary. Iran won’t stop until all of us Christians are wearing bells on our necks again, and Muslim Arab countries aren’t falling head over heels to stop that. Only the Sunni-Shia divide is keeping us Christians safe.

But again, I understand what you mean. It’s not right that anyone’s grandchildren die. Will pray for the peace, and the rest of faithful departed in battle. This is indeed a fallen world we live in.

I think it is adding more potential.conflicts, not actual wars. Like to prove a point. I am betting one day soon Trump will meet with Rouhani and ask him whatta… he wants in order to stop threatening and other stuff he’s doing. As I stated in another thread Trump is really slick. And that is not necessarily a bad thing. Bullies like Rouhani appreciate another bully and if cornered they will look for a deal.

The military of the United States are there to defend US interests. Sometimes, those interests are questionable. At other times, those interests are clear and defense is required.

Rouhani can probably get whatever he wants just by offering to allow Trump to build a Trump Tower in Tehran.
Trump seems to a fool when it comes to false praise.

You know, tossing money at a problem does not make it go away. We spend more than average on the secondary and primary levels and kids still leave high school semi-literate. On the higher education level, we give out loans for people to get degrees that are not worth the paper they are printed on. We invest so much in education, yet get so little out of it.

And how many billions and trillions of dollars are spent on tanks, planes, and ships that the Pentagon does not want? Ah, the Military Industrial Complex just keeps raking it in.

Oh, the Pentagon wants them. Look up the number one and number two countries for weapons exports.

Tossing money at a problem that goes not to away. You are speaking of the military and homeland security, right?
We spend so much and feel so insecure.

What was our interest when we went to war with Iraq after they invaded Kuwait?
We seem to go to war quite ofter without any understandable interest for being there, other than to make war profiteers wealthier.

I wasn’t arguing for that. I am just saying that tossing money at a problem does not make it go away.

I hear when you are saying. But tossing money at education makes more sense than tossing money for unnecessary military items or for something like Donald Trump’s vanity wall.

Yeah, sure, because forcing people to go through legitimate ports of entry to immigrate here is all about vanity.

I wondered the same thing, so I looked into it. It involved a strange scenario where we said one thing and did another. It appeared designed to confuse the American people, but more likely, was designed to confuse the enemy regarding our (Government’s) true intentions. “This shall not stand!”
