I’m no expert either. But I do know it’s way above my pedigree to determine who does and does not gain eternal life in the end.
Yes, exactly. Especially since I have seen it argued here on CAF that aborted babies, miscarried babies, still born babies, and all other unbaptised people do not gain eternal life. I do not share that belief. I know my babies are waiting for me in Heaven, but there are regular posters here that argue otherwise

Life trumps impurity- impurity can be changed…

I can peruse this thread and find a contradicting scripture to each one quoted if I had the time.

Some of these arguments here are also ammunition for pro abortionists. What if they stated, well, you know, I don’t want a baby being born into an evil world, or be adopted by gays so my choice to abort is ok because they will have eternal life…I am actually saving them. How crazy and wrong is that?

God did not give these children life for some to use as pawns to correct society.
I think too often people choose not to think about the Hell we put little kids through. It’s too painful so it get ignored. I also think it is wrong to assume that just because two immoral people are raising a child that the child will also turn out immoral. I’ve met some really great people that were raised in really awful homes by really terrible people. I’ve met even more horrible people that are raised in very devout families by very pious people. Kids have a tendency to become their people. An awful lit if people seem to find the way to blame all their troubles on their upbringing. Parents were “too religious” so the kids wind up hating religion. Parents are “non religious” so the kids seek out a church family on their own. No parents are perfect but stability and love go a long way compared to never being born or stuck in foster care/bad orphanage/group home forever

False dichotomy. Yes, you are using extremes to prove your point but, in order for that to be valid, they have to be reasonably possible.
  1. We have very few orphanages around and those that do exist primarily house children who are not eligible for adoption. They are long term foster care.
  2. Christ loving women wouldn’t be involved in a same-sex relationship.
  3. The orphanages that do exist are heavily regulated, much more so than private homes. It is much more likely that an adoptive couple would be a bad placement than that an orphanage would have “terrible” conditions.
The Church speaks authoritatively against same-sex couples adopting and compares that to child abuse. That being said, I doubt any Church official would stand in the way of an adoption to a same-sex couple,** if that were truly the only option** other than institutional abuse or if one of the people was the last blood relative that could raise the child. But those are extreme and rare situations. Once you make legal accommodations for same-sex couples to adopt, they aren’t saving children from terrible institutions. They are keeping those children from being adopted into normal families with mothers and fathers.
I cant believe what I am reading here, comparing it to child abuse, I used to think that it was wrong for same sex couples to adopt but I have changed my mind. I think it is better for a same sex couple who are in a loving relationship to bring up a child than for the child to be left in an orphanage however good the orphanage is. Yes I agree we were not designed to be with the same sex but for some it is natural and it is not a choice.

My reason and my conscience. It done a pretty decent job so far and keeps me sufficiently moral- I’m not a meth ring leader yet 👍
Not a meth ring leader? That’s a pretty low bar to set!

Catholics try to hold a rather high bar for morality. We don’t want to only brag about not being murderers, drug dealers, fornicators, but we want to aim for holiness.

I’m not the church but I lived in a Russian orphanage for the first 9 months of my life. I can tell you that anyplace is better then that. I had nothing of my own, was fed boild berry juice and oatmeal(I think that’s what my parents told me it was). I was slightly malnourished also and a few other things. Keeping a child in a place like that for their childhood can mess them up and it’s just not the kind of place anyone wants to be in. If someone wants to adopt a child and has the right home environment for it. Then let them because after a certain age they kick you out of the orphanage and onto the streets. You don’t want to know what can happen then. I know it sounds harsh but it is.
